Hi Duana, I'm due to have a baby girl in 3 weeks. We have an older daughter who is almost 4. My husband and I haven't settled on a name. I think part of the problem is that with our first daughter, we were absolutely 100% certain on what we'd name her: Dagny. This time around, we have some ideas, but are still lukewarm. Full Article

Hi Duana. We are expecting our third this summer and we were excited to find out a girl will be joining our two boys. We are pretty traditional when it comes to names. The boys are Charles (Charlie) and Henry so as you can see we aren't really pushing the envelope. Both boys' names are family names, which I love. Full Article

Hi Duana, It's coming down to the wire to name our first baby girl (first child) and we need some help agreeing on a name! I'm hoping you can help! My husband doesn't read/know about name popularity and the names he's liking are Emma and Sophia. I do like those names too but am concerned with the popularity of these names. Full Article

Hi Duana, We are expecting our second baby and I don't think we are going to find out the sex. Our first baby is named Veronica and I am at a loss for baby girl and boy names. I would like a girl name that is equally strong and classic like Veronica - we've floated around Natalie, Alexandra, Naomi but nothing really feels right, nor can we agree. Full Article

So here’s my question:  My husband and I are pregnant with our first child and have always agreed that we were going to name our child, if he is a boy, first name – Buster, middle name - Joseph. You should see the looks, including looks of horror, that we have gotten from friends and family, along with comments such as “For a nickname, right?”, “On the birth certificate?”, “Good thing your grandparents aren’t alive to hear that” and “Oh god, no!”  I’m not so much bothered by people’s unsolicited opinions on our first born’s name, because for my husband and I, it just feels right. Full Article

Hi Duana!  A friend knows I'm struggling with girl names and referred me to your name page so wanted to run my situation past you. I'm Persian and my husband is Bosnian (like, his parents don't speak any English!).  We have an almost 3 yr old son named Roman because we loved it, and it was a name that both sets of grandparents could pronounce correctly, haha! So now we are on the hunt for a baby girl name. Full Article

Duana, We need an objective and outside name nerd opinion! I’m due in 11 days and my husband and I are at an absolute standoff with respect to names. The first time around our girl’s name was relatively straightforward and it just clicked, yet this negotiation has been going on for months and we're getting nowhere. Full Article

Hi Duana, I am expecting my first child in a few months and would really appreciate your input on possible baby names.   I am totally stuck. The problem: my husbands last name is a girls first name-it's Allison.  It seems like everything we come up with sounds like a fake celebrity name. Full Article

Dear Duana, Elsa is currently on the top of my list of potential girl names. I'm due in June, and I don't know our babe's gender. We're set with a family name for a son, and I was sold on Elisabeth for a girl, calling her Elsa for short. I love that Elsa sounds both strong and feminine without (currently!) being trendy until that Disney movie Frozen happened. Full Article

Please help me!  My husband and I are expecting our first baby - a girl.  I had to know the gender so I could start the difficult process of choosing the perfect name.  My husband and I are not agreeing on anything.  He like Charlotte and Ava.  Although nice names, I feel they are too popular. Full Article

Duana Names: Not in August

Hi Duana, I'm due with my 2nd in 6 weeks, it's a boy, and we're completely stumped. The only boy name both of us loved was August, which is now unusable as a family member recently named her son Augustus which is just too close for us. I love the sound of August, it's soft yet I think still masculine and has a unique quality to it. Full Article
