Hi Duana, My husband and I are expecting our first baby this fall, and we've decided not to find out if it's a boy or girl. We're set for boys names- have 2 that we both love in case we end up with 2 boys someday (Owen and Gareth), but we cannot agree on girls names. We're in agreement that it should be easy to spell, as my first name has so many possibilities I'm very empathetic to the plight of those with constantly misspelled names. Full Article

Duana Names: Rhymes with Sarah

I recently found out that I am pregnant with our first child. As we both have first names that include an "AR" sound - like in Sarah- we were thinking it would be fun to have children's names that included that sound as well, like Carrie or Mary.  I do think it's a little cheesy but it's just something that we're playing around with. Full Article

Duana Names: Niall's sister

Hi Duana! I just found out that I'm having a baby girl, which is awesome because of all the fun outfits I can get for her, but not so awesome in the sense that we are totally stuck on the name front. If this baby was a boy, his name was going to be Niall. We plan to have more children in the future, and it is pretty much guaranteed that any future son would be called Niall, so I guess we should try to match a girl's name to Niall ''just in case'' we have a boy? Our biggest dilemma is we aren't sure if that means it has to be Irish; we have no Irish blood, just adore the name Niall after hearing it pop up on a friend's baby name list (they didn't use it!). Full Article

Duana Names: Doubling Up In The Middle

So we are expecting baby # 2 (don't know the sex) and my husband and I can't agree on the number of middle names to give the second kiddo. Our daughter's name is Neve Kailey Dawn (I wanted to name her Niamh, but my husband won out on the pronunciation - like Neve Campbell). We have settled on Ronan for a boy and Ione for a girl (do these names match with Neve? It's a hard name to match with), but the middle names are a problem. Full Article

And now for something decidedly different… Hi Duana, I have a suggestion for an old English name that really deserves to make a return. It's both quirky and classic at the same time and well, if things hadn't been 'shut down' a few years ago, I might name-nerd/obsess about using this as a child's name. Full Article

Duana Names: Which names are too try?

I'm expecting a girl, and would really like to hear your opinion on my name possibilities. I love names like Tamsin and Rhiannon, and, most controversially, Guinevere. Does the name still have bad karma and a try hard vibe? I just love the sound of it. ___ I am pretty lucky to have this gig. Full Article

Hi Duana! I desperately need your advice as baby number two is due in 10 days! We're having a little girl and we have no names, no shortlist, nothing. She has an older brother and his name is Jeremy. I'm after some ideas for his first and middle names that will sound well together and will flow well with her brother's name. Full Article

Duana Names: Traditioooon! Tradition…Tradition!

Hi Duana, We are pregnant with our second child. (Our two year old son is Sawyer Nehemiah.) We are not sure yet the gender, but for some reason I'm stressing over a girl's name. We can't settle on one! We want to keep an Old Testament name in one spot. The only other thing is that we have a tradition in my family of the oldest girl gets the middle name Marie, though I'm not 100% stuck on keeping that. Full Article

Hi Duana, I’m expecting a sweet baby girl, and I’m having a hard time picking out a name that’ll suit her. I’ve really been blessed with a peaceful pregnancy so far, and have this feeling that I’ll pop out a very sweet girl with an old soul. I’ll be a single mom, so a great thing about that is having no one vetoing my choices, although my mom’s already suggesting names like crazy, mostly season names like Autumn and Summer. Full Article

Duana Names: The Unwanted Nickname

Hi Duana, this may sound completely mad but recently I have found myself in possession of, in my opinion, a ridiculous nickname and I need to shift it. My name is Imogen so the usual one I get is ‘Imo’ and my mom occasionally calls me ‘Immy’ but very, very occasionally. My dad on the other hand has always been a bit more creative. Full Article

Duana Names: The Trials of the “A” Train

Hi Duana! I need name help. I've always loved pretty girl names that end in "A" (Olivia, Lila, Clara, etc), and my husband and I have finally found THE name for our baby girl - it's very unique and has a special meaning for us. Of course, though, it ends in an "A" AND our last name begins with an A! Is this is a name faux pas? Are there any examples where it works (I can't seem to find any). Full Article
