Naomi doubles at Cannes
As noted earlier, the Cannes line-up was released today and includes two films featuring Naomi Watts. She is the headliner in Woody Allen’s latest You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger with Anthony Hopkins, Josh Brolin, Freida Pinto, Antonia Banderas, and more and she stars as Valerie Plame opposite Sean Penn’s Joe Wilson in Doug Liman’s Fair Game which, if you followed in the news or if you’ve read her book, you’ll probably be quite eager to see. Both films are being buzzed about for awards. Some say both Watts and Penn could earn nominations as Plame and Wilson. Early chatter about their performances is very, very positive. Did you love them in 21 Grams? That movie kicked my ass.
So here’s Naomi in New York with Liev Schreiber, their sons Sacha and Samuel and their nanny enjoying some downtime before promotional responsibilities. She’s actually had quite a full schedule lately having just finished work on Jim Sheridan’s haunted house movie (which I’m convinced is not exactly what it seems) with Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz and there are at least 2 more on the go. Maybe time for some lighter material? Naomi is great, yes, but she’s like the Sarah McLachlan of movies. Always in pain.
