Nicole, Meryl, and Harvey

Deadline confirmed yesterday that The Weinstein Company has acquired distribution rights for Grace Of Monaco starring Nicole Kidman. So, you know what that means: he’ll be pushing Granny Freeze for an Oscar campaign next year. (By the way, the Oscars will be held back to March 2, 2014 to accommodate the Olympics. Campaign season will be LONG.)
Interestingly enough however, Weinstein will also be representing August: Osage County at the same time. Who’s in August: Osage County? Oh, just Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts. Also produced by George Clooney and Grant Heslov. Early screenings of August are coming back largely positive, especially re: Meryl’s performance. Word is she’s, well, she’s Meryl. Extraordinary. And they’re predicting yet another nomination.
It wouldn’t be the first time Harvey’s had two women in the race. When Meryl won for The Iron Lady last year, Michelle Williams was up for My Week With Marilyn, and both films were Weinstein properties. Michelle Williams however is not our Gran. Michelle wanted it, sure. But Nicole? Nicole WANTS it. And she usually demands undivided priority from those who would help her get it. Could she demand undivided priority from Harvey over Meryl Streep though?
Thing is, Meryl would be gracious enough to wave Nicole forward.
PS. Why aren’t more parents naming their daughters Meryl? You’re telling me Madycyn > Meryl? Really?
Here’s Nicole at a couple of events for Omega on the weekend. She looked so much softer with her hair blown straight at the press conference than she does in the gown, with darker lips, and curls in the evening, non?
