November 19, 2013 – Smutty Shout-Outs
Guess what today is? Today is World Toilet Day! If you’ve been reading this blog long enough, you know how much this means to me. But beyond my own sh-tty problems, toilet deficiencies are a serious problem around the world. The UN has officially recognised World Toilet Day because:
- More than 2.5 billion people in the world do not have access to toilets or sustainable sanitation (this is all related to clean water issues, malaria problems, etc which all affect our food source, environment, social and economic progress)
- 1 out of 5 girls in India alone drop out of school because there are no toilets in their schools and over 50% of girls in Africa will drop out, leading to child marriages, perpetuation of gender taboos, hindrance to social and economic progress, etc.
- Women in developing countries are frequently assaulted when they’re going to the washroom…(when there is no toilet to go to…where and when would you go…?)
Click here for more information. And tweet #wecantwait today to spread the word! Everyone has the right to a proper poo!
Brooke! Happy Birthday! Justin said that I could be extra creative and leave a message on your Facebook but since I don’t have Facebook, I just tweeted a birthday message to you – hope that’s ok? You can see it here. I’m hoping that Chicago will be a stop on my US book tour. Hopefully I’ll meet you then?
And for Andrea… from SO MANY of your friends and family. You are a POPULAR! Gus and Ginny requested a shout-out along with shots of Robert Pattinson (seen here at the gym yesterday), Colin Farrell, and Charlie Hunnam. Lori M wrote in as well. And your sister Cassy had this message she wanted me to share with you:
“I have tried channeling Colin Farrell on my ouija board and no success. Alan says now that Robert Pattinson is done with the whole Twilight thing maybe he'll find time to come and marry you now. I thought what could possibly come close to either one of those? We walk alike, we talk alike, at times we even sound alike. I remember introducing you to Lou Reed and Laura Nyro when you were but a babe. Happy Birthday Baby Sister! I love you very much.”
