The London premiere of One Direction’s This Is Us is happening tonight. They’re expecting 70,000 or more. And apparently the band has been cautioned against having an afterparty for fear of trampling. You know who else created that kind of hysteria back in their day?
The Spice Girls.
For some reason, the Spice Girls have become a punchline now but I can’t remember an all-girl group before or since that inspired the same supercharged mania. So find a fan somewhere and turn it on. That’s your wind machine as you blast Viva Forever.
Yours in gossip,
We’re The Millers is doing reasonably well at the box office. Much better than Wanderlust. So Jennifer Aniston is apparently celebrating the success of her movie in, well, where else? Mexico. Check out Jennifer and Justin Theroux arriving in Mexico yesterday with Jason Bateman and his wife Amanda Anka for a double date holiday. Full Story
Two Gwyneth Paltrow posts in one day – it’s a good day! Here are some new photos for you to judge. Because I know there’s no one you love to judge more than my G. She’s spending August in the Hamptons, as you know, and some of her days are spent catching up with the other Hamptons moms at Jack’s coffee and booting around with Apple on her apple red scooter. Colin Firth has his long-legged stride, Meg Ryan has (had?) her jaunty bouncy walk, and Timothy Olyphant has that loose-limbed cowboy swagger that makes him so perfect as Raylan Givens on Justified. And this fall he’ll be swaggering on Mindy Kaling’s sitcom, The Mindy Project, playing a skateboarder (translation: man-child) who will dally with Mindy. Full Story

A significant amount of buzz would have us believe that’s the reality we’re headed towards, and today we get to see why with a new Cameron-heavy trailer for The Counselor. Full Story
It’s all about timing, isn’t it? We accept that celebrities have a platform, and that they’re asked to use it at every opportunity. You’ve heard the expression "they can’t say yes to everything" but I actually think it’s worth mentioning how often celebs are approached by their state senates, their high schools, their local rotary clubs – anyone who can claim the tiniest piece of you will ask for some. No Girl Sh-t here… Amy Poehler and Aubrey Plaza, co-stars on Parks & Rec, went to the movies together last night. It was Afternoon Delight. Aubrey makes a great bitch face, non? I feel like we’ve underappreciated her in this department. Earlier in the day, Kirsten Dunst and Isla Fisher hit the gym. Full Story
I covered The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones Toronto premiere last week. A note on Jamie Campbell Bower -- I never understood it until I saw him move. Bower is tall, lanky, and he has a rock star swagger that's very attractive. For me though, it's all about Robert Sheehan, who's not even top 3 in the cast but is totally #1 on pure personality and charisma. Full Story

Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are shooting Sherlock in Cardiff, Wales. Sherlock evidently had his clothes stolen and is trying to escape in someone else’s. Leonardo DiCaprio? It’s like he’s acting out a scene from Leo’s true life, wearing second hand athletic gear and looking for a dumpster to jump into. Full Story
