Anne Hathaway’s speeches always start out good. Remember the Globes? And her tribute to Sally Field? That was good. Last night too. Last night she started out strong. She talked about her SAG membership, she expressed her love for her community. And if she had stopped there, we’d be cool. Full Story

This was not the worst

It was a pretty boring carpet on style, right? So how could January Jones be the worst? Not with that bitch-face. (Did you see her stalk in like she was ready to have words?) Not with this hair. You might not like it, or the dress, but at least it gave you a reaction. At least it gave you some thrill. Full Story

Eddie Redmayne: The Season’s Best

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 28, 2013 15:24:01 January 28, 2013 15:24:01

Too soon? We still have the DGAs, the BAFTAs, and of course the Oscars to come. But Eddie Redmayne’s been on such a hot streak, I wonder if it’s now an automatic. If he’s there, he’s the best of the men, the class of the carpet. And the great part of that is that it’s never the same. Full Story

Granny’s SAG hair

Nicole Kidman was definitely a contender for SAG best in Vivienne Westwood. But even if you can get past the lips, can you really get past the hair? Gwyneth Paltrow’s straightening iron met Keith Urban. Had it been flat against her head, perhaps it wouldn’t be so weird. But there’s a humped tease on either side of her part and I can’t understand how that happens. Full Story

I’m Just Going To Be Totally Honest With You Right Now

Girls Season 2 Episode 3 recap What does it say about me that this was the Girls episode I enjoyed the most? I originally wrote “annoyed me the least”, but first of all, that’s kind of a dick thing to say, and second of all, it’s not necessarily true. Which is fine. This is the first episode in a long while where the annoying choices the characters made – and they did make them – seemed absolutely in line with the characters they’ve shown us and who they’ve been trying to be instead of just random hilarity so that we’d think the show was cool and trendy. Full Story

In the absence of the Brange...

This year we get the Afflecks... You know how hard the Afflecks have been working. Last night, from the moment they arrived, it was work time, did you see? Ben Affleck hit the carpet before Jennifer Garner did -- she must have been held up getting out of the car. As soon as she joined him though he was right in her ear -- downloading information/gossip/strategising, whatever it was, she dutifully nodded, understanding the game plan, gave him a quick kiss, and they were off. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

As sick days go, yesterday was a good day to take off. Every time I woke up, in a panic and sweaty, worried I’d missed something, a big breaking scandal, I was reassured by the fact that, still, Beyonce remains the top story of the week.  Read Full Intro

Who? Well, for the 12 of us who watched and still miss Friday Night Lights, and the 8 of you who watch and love Parenthood, obviously the most important actor in these photos is Michael B Jordan... And Michael B Jordan just happened to have a very, VERY good Sundance. Jordan’s film Fruitvale, about the last day in the life of Oscar Grant who was fatally shot (even though he was not resisting arrest) by a transit officer in Oakland in 2009, was considered one of the major highlights of the festival. Full Story
