I screamed in the control room when the pool feed picked up Serenity arriving with Albert last night. Needless to say, this did not go over well since there are easily two dozen people in there trying to produce a live show. But there she was, all tragic and miserable, and if only Mother Angelina could rescue her, you know? If only. Full Story

It just reminded me of the black rubber suit dude on that show. And I don’t even watch the show. But that character has been on so many magazine covers and blogged about so many times you can’t get away from it. And when she walked onto the carpet, covered in black, all the way up her neck and down to wrists, with that heavy fringe closing everything off, and the lights giving it that gleam, it’s all I could think of. Full Story

We’re playing point counterpoint. I liked the show. I liked the pace. I liked Billy Crystal. A lot. Was it easy and comfortable? Yes. Will that be the criticism of it? Probably. But it felt...good. It felt like, as horribly corny as this sounds, if the Oscars refuse to revolutionise in one day, why not have an old friend come along to help it evolve. Full Story

It’s Friday afternoon. The next time I post to the site it’ll be early Monday morning and the Oscars will already have happened. This then is the final post of our Oscar retrospective. Until next year. Thought I’d end on my two favourite Oscar dresses from the last decade. It’s like choosing between your children. Full Story

I love pilot season. So do lots of people, of course. It's like the draft pick for TV nerds. It's just so exciting when a show you've been hearing about gets picked up, or when you hear there's a chance that the star you love might be back on TV.  And you can follow it as much or as little as you want, and still get something out of it. Full Story

This week there was a kerfuffle over Sacha Baron Cohen, invited along with Best Picture nominee Hugo, not being allowed to attend the Oscars on Sunday because he wanted to do his red carpet interviews as his character in his upcoming film, The Dictator. Click here Full Story

The other part of the pilot season game is the speculation: the leaked scripts, the rumours, the revisions in who's actually right for the part (one of my favourite TV business phrases is "we went another way", closely followed by "that (pointless production or script problem demanded by a higher-up) went away"). Full Story

Imagine being able to just walk into Balenciaga and pick up a dress for tonight? No payment required. That might actually be a better perk than the cash money. Check out Kristen Stewart leaving Balenciaga in West Hollywood yesterday. Stewart is the face of the label’s new fragrance. And there’s no better time than this weekend to be put to work selling all the sh-t you need to be selling: movies, colognes, whatever. Full Story
