November 7, 2012 - Smutty Shout-Outs

If I could be in Toronto on November 14th, I’d be going to The Frocktail Party. It’s a dress auction in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation with exclusive items donated by Canadian notables including an Oscar De La Renta gown, a really cute Mary Katrantzou dress, and more by McQueen, Alexander Wang, Valentino, Matthew Williamson and Issa, the Princess Kate’s engagement dress designer. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

I just read a Jack Nicholson interview published by the UK Sun which, I mean, that’s just old school. Because Jack doesn’t have a publicist. And I’m not sure a publicist could tell Jack to not be so candid anyway. I also read, this morning, an article about Harry Styles of One Direction, also refreshingly candid. More on this later but what is it that happens between early fame and late fame that takes away the honesty?

It’s US Presidential Election Day! It’s great theatre! Duana’s the roving reporter today covering the celebrities covering the election.

Yours in gossip,

PS. Watch my vitaminwater #asklainey videos on getting involved here, what to consider before starting your own blog here, and how not to come across like a fangirl here.

Extraordinary Efforts – Voting edition

So Jon Hamm spoke at an Obama rally on the weekend.  He really pulled out all the stops, which I can’t fault in someone who is trying hard to bring people around to his way of seeing things by sheer virtue of being a celebrity. He brought something for everyone, you know?  I’m sure he was a stirring speaker, bringing the spirit of Don Draper at his most persuasive to the crisp clean fall air that must have seemed so hopeful. Full Story

Jim’s Electric Slide

Lainey Posted by Lainey at November 6, 2012 21:57:18 November 6, 2012 21:57:18

Jim Sturgess was photographed on the set of Electric Slide yesterday in LA. It’s the true story about a dude from the 80s who sold furniture but also robbed banks on the side because he thought that might turn on his girlfriend. Isabel Lucas plays the girlfriend. Aside from “cheated on Adrian Grenier with Shia LaBeouf” and “flower child”, what do we know about this girl? Does she have a personality? Do you care? She walks around often with pale lips and a middle part and I’m not sure I need more. Full Story

Sienna’s Esoteric Pregnancy

Maria Posted by Maria at November 6, 2012 21:11:46 November 6, 2012 21:11:46

WARNING: NUDE ART Sienna Miller posed nude for artist Jonathan Yeo, and the work will be displayed at an exhibition in Berlin. Vogue UK has the portrait: it is stunning. Mother Sienna has been quiet, really. For all her mid-20s attention-seeking behavior and personal drama, Sienna is not using motherhood as a means to promote herself. Full Story

Voting Visuals For Your Afternoon

And now, the “fangirl if they’re your favourites” voting roundup. If anyone looks happiest about voting it’s Mae Whitman, who is so proud and happy you’d think it was her first time.  I don’t think it is -- she’s 24 -- but it’s cute as all heck nonetheless… Whereas Hilary Duff looks like this is just a long line of errands she’s doing today, don’t you think? I guess the white top is ideal for letting the sticker show, and/or the red bra-slash-tank underneath implies patriotism, but don’t you think she could dress a little snappier for voting day when she KNEW she’d be photographed?  Josh Duhamel went for this “blank canvas with a sticker” look as well, but he looks a little less …oh, I don’t know, completely posed? By this logic,  Elizabeth Banks is the anti-famewhore, as this charming pic of her boobs and her voting sticker does not include her face. Full Story

Blake Shelton hates Chris Brown?

Blake Shelton and the other judges from The Voice were on Extra yesterday. Then he went out for dinner with Christina Aguilera and her boyfriend. (Ahem, JLO, please take note. You don’t have to give the guy a JOB, see?) Anyway, I’m still high on a country music buzz, especially here at Duana’s house since she keeps replaying or singing that Kelly Clarkson song with Vince Gill. Full Story

Christmas Lights on Election Day

Lainey Posted by Lainey at November 6, 2012 20:06:07 November 6, 2012 20:06:07

Me: Taylor Swift is in England turning on some Christmas lights. I don’t think she’s tweeted or mentioned the election. Do you care? Do you want to write this one? Duana: No. Because I don’t think she’s intelligent enough to make those statements. Me: OK fine, I’ll write about her and the Christmas lights. Full Story

On A Serious Matter

Duana Posted by Duana at November 6, 2012 19:47:24 November 6, 2012 19:47:24

I want you all to know that I was wrong.   I wanted to cover all this celebrity election-related business today. I was fired up - scanning the agencies and tweets for more news, for a stuffed-full article of every celeb I could find, doing their own thing in all different ways.  I tried to include the below pictures in that article -- but I was WRONG. Full Story

Almost everything I’ve read on Twitter or Facebook today begins with the line “To My American Friends…” and is followed by some instruction on voting smart, or voting for the right guy, or voting at all. We have some envy here, is what you need to know.  Canadian elections are…not like yours. Full Story
