Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock was named Best Actor Movie/Miniseries at the Critics’ Choice Awards last night in Beverly Hills. But Bendy (which is a much better nickname for him considering how seemingly elastic his face is, and this serves him well creatively, doesn’t it?) was in England, attending the premiere of The Amazing Spider-Man and didn’t collect his prize. Full Story

The day I learned how to look at my internet history is one of the saddest of my life.  Not because of what I looked at, per se, (although some days...) but because there's that tab for “Today”.  You can see all the stuff you looked at JUST TODAY, and how this links to that, and which thread you followed - you can actually see the time being wasted. Full Story

They’ve confirmed that they have “amicably separated”. This after PEOPLE initially reported in January that they were all but over, living separate lives. Last month Johnny tried to deny it while promoting Dark Shadows but it looks like they couldn’t make the save. After 14 years and 2 children, it’s done. Full Story

As expected (basically as soon as they announced she’d be playing Sarah Palin it was expected), Julianne Moore won the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actress in a Movie/Miniseries last night for Game Change. Emmy nominations will be announced next month. There is no way she’s not called and, well, chances are she sweeps the Emmys, the Globes, and the SAGs too. Full Story

Don’t bet against The Lone Ranger

Sarah Posted by Sarah at June 19, 2012 17:17:25 June 19, 2012 17:17:25

One of my absolute favorite movie-business memories is an oldie but a goodie: the expression on the faces of Disney executives after they got their first look at Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow. I will never ever forget that look. It was what the F*CK and I don’t get it and OMG he really is crazy and we’re going to lose SO MUCH MONEY rolled into one. Full Story

Anne Hathaway: pimples and eye-rolls

Lainey Posted by Lainey at June 19, 2012 16:48:53 June 19, 2012 16:48:53

Anne Hathaway is Catwoman. And I really wish these comic book people would make up their minds about when to use one word or two words for the titles of their superheroes. Batman, Catwoman, Superman... But Spider-Man has to have a hyphen. And Iron Man is two words completely. Oh wait, nerds, let me guess. Full Story

This is Maleficent Jolie

Lainey Posted by Lainey at June 19, 2012 16:00:56 June 19, 2012 16:00:56

Disney just sent out a press release this morning announcing that production on Maleficent began on June 13 with Angelina Jolie in the title role. Interestingly enough, for a big ass deal like this, the film’s director is an amateur. Robert Stromberg has won 2 Oscars for production design (Avatar, Alice In Wonderland), but this is his first time running the show. Full Story

World War Z: Nightmare movie

A nightmare movie is a movie on which everything goes wrong. And when I say everything, I mean everything. If it’s a miserable experience from start to finish, with hellish development and post-production periods to boot, then it’s a nightmare movie. Famous nightmare movies include Jaws and The Hurt Locker, so it’s not necessarily a death sentence, since sometimes you end up striking gold under all the sh*t. Full Story

Newly married and pregnant Drew Barrymore, ankle boots over jeans, attended the premiere of Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World last night in LA where she hung out with Diablo Cody because, obviously. Have they worked together yet? It seems like that would be inevitable. As for Drew’s other best friend Cameron Diaz, she was also spotted yesterday in ankle boots and jeans, but in New York. Full Story
