Handpicked by George

The Ides of March trailer was released yesterday after the poster came out the day before. George Clooney is the director and he adapted the screenplay with Grant Heslov but even though Clooney is the big name, the story is all Ryan Gosling. It all hinges on Ryan Gosling. And this is why George Clooney handpicked Ryan Gosling. Full Story

Henry Cavill: not photogenic and bad pants

Lainey Posted by Lainey at July 28, 2011 08:35:51 July 28, 2011 08:35:51

Have received a lot of email about Henry Cavill after Comic-Con and I don’t have a lot to say about him other than he’s really, really lovely and has great hair and... is, like Charlie Hunnam, terribly unphotogenic. I mean, in person, you have to believe he’s beautiful. Elegant, strong, handsome. Full Story

UN-hearing happened before

Many of you are mad at me about this article from yesterday about Colin Firth’s hideous American accent in the new trailer for Main Street. Well, it turns out this moment was foretold a few years ago on Saturday Night Live. Thanks to Kristy and Lindsay for the reminder. Full Story

Peeta & Gale cover EW

Lainey Posted by Lainey at July 28, 2011 07:13:05 July 28, 2011 07:13:05

New issue of Entertainment Weekly features the boys of The Hunger Games movie, Liam Hemsworth as Gale and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta. Yeah OK, I totally feel Gale. But Gale was never the major problem. It was Peeta who was stressing us out. So how do you feel now? Apparently director Gary Ross lobbied really hard to cast Josh Hutcherson in the role. Full Story

July 28, 2011 – Smutty Shout-Outs

Tadao! Happy Birthday! As you said, you and I don’t agree on Chris Evans. But I do hear he was good in Captain America. And he’s not up his own ass like Justin Timberlake. And he was smart enough to get rid of Shelfy before she became a problem. And he’s alright in this picture too. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

Now that I’m home, with a proper internet connection, I’ve been catching up on videos, trailers, clips I couldn’t stream while working from the bullsh-t hotel wireless. At this point, isn’t that a basic? Like hot water? Yes, I am a first world ingrate.  Read Full Intro

When what makes sense doesn’t actually work

In a certain celebrity matchmaking universe, Ellen Page + Jesse Eisenberg would constitute a duh, oh yeah, totally slamdunk. Look at those quirky hipsters with their weird ticks, and the way they both speedtalk, and he hasn’t watched tv or a movie since 1988 and neither has she because they spend all their time collecting chairs with only 3 legs and reading Kant! They belong together! Except, as is often the case when two people totally belong together on paper, when you put them together it becomes kinda . Full Story

Bad trailer but it offers a glimpse

Lainey Posted by Lainey at July 27, 2011 12:27:17 July 27, 2011 12:27:17

When you woke up today, did you think I’d compliment Robert Pattinson OVER Colin Firth? I am about to. So, in our ongoing review of new trailers I may have missed over the last week or so due to sh-tty wireless at Comic-Con, this is the one they’ve released for Bel Ami due in theatres.. Full Story

Dead Showrunning Walking

Lainey Posted by Lainey at July 27, 2011 11:46:55 July 27, 2011 11:46:55

Written by Duana Oh boy. So the showrunner of The Walking Dead, Frank Darabont, has stepped down. All the usual caveats apply. Don’t know him, never worked with, etc. I’m not surprised. The first season was six episodes. Which were based on a comic book, and Darabont wrote them, in whole or in part, himself. Full Story

More trailer analysis... I don’t actually know how a movie like New Year’s Eve keeps making itself. But now you know why Ashton Kutcher went back to television. Even he couldn’t stand this sh-t anymore. Let’s put the tall guy and the short girl together and make them kiss! What is it? It’s a series of cute formulaic movie scenes with so called Chick Lit snappy dialogue. Full Story
