As played by Sally Field, Doris is charming and slightly daffy, wearing bright clothes that almost but not quite match. She’s shy and kind and a closet romantic, so it would seem natural for the film to turn in on itself and make Doris the butt of a really terrible joke. Full Story

It’s Friday, and while the rest of us are winding down, Jessica Alba is probably going to be working this weekend. A reader called Jamie emailed me a link to a Wall Street Journal story about The Honest Company’s laundry detergent. An investigation and independent testing was done and a chemical called SLS was found – why is that important? It’s not that SLS is so horrific in and of itself – it’s in brand name toothpaste and many household products – but The Honest Company specifically has it on its banned list of ingredients (see the full list here Full Story

President Obama and Michelle Obama hosted a state dinner last night in honour of Canada’s new Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – when you email or tweet at me because Mimi’s in the news and I come to mind, thank you so much. It might be my greatest career achievement. Let’s just all lie down for a moment and process this before we continue. Full Story

Scandal Season 5 Episode 13 recap When this show began, even when Olivia cleaned up bodies with vigor and shamed young girls with relish, there was a lot of talk about White Hats. About doing what was right. Taking the high road or being a good person or things of that nature.  There were even long, lingering shots of white hats on shelves, on heads, in boxes. Full Story

How To Get Away With Murder Season 2 Episode 14 recap This week felt different. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still not sure what case we’re solving/hiding from—I guess that the group could be caught at the Hapstall mansion?—and I still don’t feel like our people are as actually afraid of getting in trouble with the law, but I felt like this show was filled with real people. Full Story
