The Brink Bar is in Liverpool. It’s an alcohol-free non-profit establishment in support of young people recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. Catherine of Cambridge, the royal patron, was there today on an official charity visit. They created a smoothie in her honour called “The Duchess”. She also received cards and flowers and a Valentine’s Day cupcake to keep her company as she’s spending it alone without Will who’s serving in the Falklands. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

Today’s column was supposed to open with the Blue Ivy Carter and how her parents decided to cockblock Grammy weekend by releasing photos of her on Friday, to dominate discussion in the 48 hours preceding Sunday’s event. And then.  Read Full Intro

Best BAFTA 2012: Meryl Streep

I think this Vivienne Westwood is glorious on her. Magestic. And it's great encouragement too. That a woman of Meryl's merit, maturity, and stature can wear the SH-T out of a designer garment that was originally sent down the runway on an 18 year old genetic freak. There's also something to be said about her reaction to winning. Full Story

Oh it’s work, don’t doubt it. It’s deliberate, don’t doubt that either. But...He is having a good time. And that might be the difference.Jean Dujardin took the SAG and the BAFTA. He’s imitating John Travolta on Jay Leno: He’s being delightful for Funny Or Die: Jean Dujardin's Villain Auditions Full Story

All the handsome men...

Other than Jean Dujardin.Brad Pitt and George Clooney both came without dates. The Jolie stayed back with the children in Berlin and George, perhaps sensing that Stacy’s not helping against Jean Dujardin, decided to go it alone. He’s better alone. When he’s alone, he can be with his boys. He can hug Colin Firth and hold his hand. Full Story

BAFTA Worst: Penelope Cruz

As you know already, I don’t like most red dresses. And especially on red carpets. That’s the first problem. And that’s not even the worst problem. Mr Armani’s chest plate is offensive to me. They way it cuts off her arms on the insides is offensive to me. And the way it boxes out her waist is even more so. Full Story

BAFTA Bonnie tried

I think I might like all the pieces Bonnie Wright is wearing on their own, separate from each other. Out for dinner? To a cocktail party? Sure.On the red carpet at the most prestigious British award show? We may have under-aimed, you know? There’s only so far they can coast on the “quirky, young actors” pass before you want to tell them, gently, that Betsey Johnson exists. Full Story

Worst BAFTA Eyeroll - Shailene Woodley

(I should check whether I’ve done ‘worst eyeroll’ before. I feel like it’s becoming a popular category). Let’s discuss Ms. Woodley for a second. She landed on that most…average of teen shows The Secret Life Of The American Teenager.  Do not try to tell me that her superlative acting talent jumped out at you, because I cannot hear it. Full Story

BAFTA Limited: Michelle Williams

So you’re Tilda Swinton and you have a certain...aesthetic. We can agree that Michelle Williams doesn’t share that aesthetic, right? Michelle Williams has a different range. She goes from Marchesa to Chanel to Valentino to this, H&M, a lovely if not terribly inspiring dress ... but then again, it’s H&M so it’s not like we’re judging by the standards of a proper design house. Full Story

Best BAFTA Mystery: Kristen Wiig

Duana Posted by Duana at February 13, 2012 23:43:28 February 13, 2012 23:43:28
Gareth Cattermole/Stuart Wilson/Getty

Are you KIDDING me with this?  Are you joking about what Kristen Wiig wore to the BAFTAs?  Please investigate below…She looks like a fairy princess Vanna White. And I can’t just accept this; I need to find some sort of conspiracy theory in it, apparently.  Why is she dressed like this tonight?  Is it because she’s not the focus, so she can get away with wearing something that’s (for her) totally subversive?  Did she fall in love with this dress and think she could wear it in Britain where she wouldn’t have to answer any questions from Giuliana about whether she was hoping to play a bride next?  Did the hair and makeup people she worked with pull a Hunger Games and decide she needed a complete overhaul?  Did she forget her choker at home?  Okay, enough. Full Story
