I love riding the elevators in the hotel on Oscar day. They are very fast and constantly packed and never boring. You see the early risers who want to work out, and then later the influx of Makeup and Hair artists troop in, and you can tell what their clients are like by how rigid and set their faces are. Full Story

Fine. I’ll be the dick doesn’t like what the pregnant celebrity is wearing. I just don’t think women who are pregnant need to dress like the babies they’re growing. It’s not just the colour either. It’s the embellishment. ON THE STRAPS. And the bust line cut straight across. Full Story

Where was Phyllis? I loved Inside Out AND felt that it abused my trust, which is the way that I think you’re supposed to feel about Inside Out (also please note that someone pointed out that Bing Bong was missing from the In Memoriam montage, so HAVE FUN SOBBING ALL DAY), but one of the things that killed me was how shockingly perfect Phyllis Smith was as Sadness. Full Story

Jared Leto: Oscar bellhop

I think at this point we can all assume that Jared Leto is not going to come to the Oscars in a conservative tuxedo. The year he won was about as conservative as it would be – white jacket, black pants, but there was still the red bow tie, and, of course, the hair:   Embed from Getty Images Full Story

Priyanka Chopra: Oscar designer fit

Hollywood is still weird about breasts. Or formal dressing is weird about breasts. VERY WEIRD. There’s something going on where people who are skilled and fabulous designers are somehow unwilling to acknowledge that breasts are not merely ideas, but actual parts of a body which have physical properties, and which need to be accounted for. Full Story

Daisy Ridley was chosen to take Star Wars into a new awakening. She spent all those moments shooting in secrecy. Then she couldn’t talk about it. Finally she started promoting it. Then we saw it. And we understood. Daisy Ridley as Rey is, yes, she is the future. Daisy has started working on Episode VIII. Full Story

Whoopi Goldberg: Oscars Inflammatory Tweet

I should point out that Whoopi wasn’t inflammatory — is she ever? Occasionally tone deaf and inevitably a little older and more out-of-touch than I remember her, but basically fine. This is not actually about her, exactly. This is about this tweet that happened relatively early in the red carpet hours. Full Story

Chris Rock: Singular Oscar Host

Lainey: The monologue was the expectation, wasn’t it? Chris Rock went hard in his Oscar monologue, for sure. In some unpredictable ways too. But it didn’t stop at the monologue. It wasn’t like, let’s get this monologue over with and get on with Hollywood fake sh-t for the rest of the show, like over 3 hours. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

As mentioned yesterday, Chris Rock isn’t talking until he takes the stage on Sunday as the host of the Oscars. But he did step out for the Essence Black Women in Hollywood event. It’s an important event to support, obviously, and also, this is a point he’s making, non? He has a big job ahead, in just 2 days.  Read Full Intro
