Written by Sarah When Lainey first asked my opinion of Emma Stone being in the Spider Man reboot last week it was a hypothetical. She was one of several names Sony Pictures was entertaining for Peter Parker’s love, Mary Jane Watson. Full Story

Happy Birthday Anna Kosturova with love from Hez! To David who’ll be in Thailand for most of the month from Andrea who is missing you – you have great taste, not only in your real wife but in your fantasy one. Here’s Cate Blanchett with lots of love speaking at a book launch a couple of weeks ago and Liam Neeson too to balance things out for the spouse. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

I watch the Mighty Opie show maybe, maybe twice a year, and obviously only when the guest is important. And today her guest could not be more important. It’s JK Rowling. For Jo I will suffer through Oprah’s annoying voice modulations, not to mention her cutting people off problem.  Read Full Intro

Emma is Oh?

Lainey Posted by Lainey at October 1, 2010 15:15:37 October 1, 2010 15:15:37

I love this. Deadline reports that Emma Thompson will join Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones in Men in Black 3 as a character called “Oh”, the head of MIB. Kinda like M in Bond? Amazing, right? She’ll be amazing. Full Story

Oh no, she’s an exception

Of course she is. Miley Cyrus hit up the club last night in Hollywood. She went to Voyeur, then a house party. Sounds like a familiar path. What’s the drinking age in California again? 21 right? Miley doesn’t turn 18 until next month. But that doesn’t matter. She goes to church, she’s tight with her family, that sh-t doesn’t happen in this town. Full Story

Xavier & Mystique

Lainey Posted by Lainey at October 1, 2010 11:00:00 October 1, 2010 11:00:00

Look! Fresh! In Oxford today on the set of X-Men: First Class – it’s James McAvoy (Charles Xavier) and Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) shooting in the rain. Gorgeous retro, non? Do you recognise Jennifer from Winter’s Bone? She was extraordinary in Winter’s Bone. Which is why she’s on every list as a sure thing for a Best Actress nomination even though most people don’t know who she is. Full Story

Life As We Know It opens next week. And she needs it to be a hit. Because Killers was far, far from a hit. Killers was also crucified by critics. So she’s on the sell right now, and she needs to convince people that she’s not really an asstalking bitch, ungrateful about her success, who has managed, in a very short time to have alienated many of her peers and eroded a fragile fanbase that thought she might be the next Julia Roberts. Full Story

Missed my obsession

Lainey Posted by Lainey at October 1, 2010 09:10:02 October 1, 2010 09:10:02

I was in Toronto for TIFF until September 18, away from home for 2 weeks. I was ready to go home. But 5 days later, Sam Taylor-Wood and Aaron Johnson were expected in town to promote Nowhere Boy. I wasn’t about to stay, but it did suck hard that the timing didn’t work. They’re my obsession, of course I would have wanted to interview my obsession. Full Story

Lainey Posted by Lainey at October 1, 2010 08:29:05 October 1, 2010 08:29:05

Nothing is more important to an actor, male or female. I’ve learned a lot about lighting since working in television. I’ve learned how much it means to people who appear on television. I’ve learned how much those who appear on television know about lighting. Oh you think they’re all superstarry and famous, sipping on champagne, oblivious to the technical sh-t and for the most part that’s true. Full Story
