Congratulations to the “Yummy Mummy” racers who ran 15k on Saturday in Toronto at the Midnight Summer’s Run in support of Sick Kids’ Hospital! To Nicola– good luck with your 905 roommate and the Suri-bites! Kate will miss watching you do the dishes and fighting for the “good” couch. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

Despite strong reviews, scoring an impressive 88% among top critics, and even though it’s not going up against anything formidable in the way of 1st week release competition, Inglourious Basterds opens today with relatively modest projections - $25 million on the low end and $30 million optimistically. Why?

They say the Movie Star is Dead.

The New York Times just wrote about the Dying Movie Star. And for those of you who love to hate on Brad Pitt, it’s not just Brad Pitt. It’s also Tom Hanks. And Denzel Washington. And Julia Roberts. And Johnny Depp too. Public Enemies did not perform as well as we’ve come to expect from a Depp-led vehicle.

Experts are busy analysing the reasons.

It’s not complicated.

It’s because people suck. The people who created the Jon & Kates and the Speidis…these people are killing the Movie Star. And Good Taste is Dead.

As for whether or not Brad Pitt badly needs Inglourious Basterds to be a hit…

It’s not Brad who needs it badly at all. It’s actually the Weinsteins who will be up all weekend anxiously waiting for the numbers. Harvey humbled? Hard to believe. Click here for the article – a great read and some insight on how the machine works, what happens when it doesn’t work.

Friday – am blogging until early afternoon. And then it’s time for the kids. Our two nephews (11 and 9) and our niece (7), every summer they come for a sleepover weekend. Love them so much. So much. Cannot believe how old they are. Where did it go???

But these three, these three are energy and sanity suckers like you’ve never seen. And being around our kids means being around OTHER kids. The amusement park, the water park, the family restaurant…f-ck me ugh. Not sure if I’ll survive til Sunday night. Have a feeling I’ll be catatonic by then. Oh yeah, and I’m off vodka to prep for TIFF. Check me on Twitter through the torture.

Wishing you a quieter adult weekend.

Yours in gossip,

GGB & Amanda Seyfried

As an onscreen couple. I wrote the other day that I found it hard to imagine. Here are some photos to help with that – shooting Letters to Juliet in Soho today. There is something very endearing about the fact that I can see her panty line. I love that she’s not straddling a string in costume. Full Story

This is for Shani R who emailed about the lack of Jamaican representation on the site, specifically re: Usain Bolt’s performance at the World Championships this week. True. It’s his birthday today. And he is celebrating it in Berlin as the only sprinter in history to own both the Olympic and World 100m and 200m titles and world records. Full Story

Last night the Twilight Eclipse crew was back to work shooting under a bridge a “Seattle” scene with Bryce Dallas Howard and Xavier Samuel as “Victoria and Riley”. Victoria seduces Riley so that he’ll carry out her orders to make new vampires. As you can see, they’ve wigged out Bryce’s hair to resemble Rachelle Lefevre’s. Full Story

For Cate Blanchett. And worship. Cate and her husband Andrew Upton attended an Audi event today in Sydney. She is, as usual, f-cking perfect. Love everything. Including the fact that she’s a working mother of 3, balancing a hot Hollywood career, codirecting a theatre company, and doesn’t martyr herself in every magazine article about being Superwoman. Full Story

Awesome. LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian met on the set of a tv movie of the week and started f-cking shortly thereafter. She’d been married to a maybe gaybe, he was married with 2 kids. Us Weekly broke the story a few months ago, the two denied it initially, but last month both ended their relationships and, obviously, feel comfortable enough now to publicly flaunt their love – seen yesterday at a golf course enjoying a full round. Full Story

All week we’ve had to look at this: the desperate hard-posing of Renee Zellweger in New York making appearance after appearance with her SnapFace to promote My One & Only. Last night at Letterman it was even more extra. The effort that she’s putting into these photos seems painful and, frankly, rather embarrassing. Full Story
