Um… the GMD for Best Supporting Actor in Tropic Thunder? Taking a spot from Josh Brolin in Milk??? He’s back, see? UGH.
The Golden Globe nominations were announced this morning and there were a few surprises, including the fact that Milk was virtually ignored with only Sean Penn receiving a nod for Best Actor as the film was shut out of the Best Picture category even though the NY Film Critics just awarded it the best of 2008.
Oh. And JailBait. Miley Cyrus up for Best Song. Ruined my day.
The bright spots? Definitely Slumdog Millionaire and DEFINITELY RDJ as Best Supporting Actor too!
And on a smutty level, the Globes this year from a nominee standpoint look to be super star studded with the Brange both nominated (Pitt Porn!), and Tom Cruise dragging Katie Holmes with him, and Leonardo DiCaprio, and Kate Winslet (she scored a double) and Colin Farrell, and both Meryl Streep and Emma Thompson - squee!!!
Note however that the Globes are not often the most accurate prognosticator of Oscar. Last year Atonement took home top prize which means Milk still has a chance though it has taken quite a hit.
Thoughts on this morning’s nominations? Always love to read your comments.
It’s Thursday – if you haven’t seen Jennifer Aniston naked in GQ yet, scroll down to get caught up on late day posts. New articles all day. Remember to refresh.
Yours in gossip,
The Dubai Film Festival kicked off today – many stars are expected to make appearances throughout the course of the event and the first to arrive … totally random. Ben and Casey Affleck, not really sure what they’re promoting other than themselves, and too lazy to find out, although if Casey’s willing to talk about Joaquin Phoenix’s rap career, I’m all over it. B was in Paris today promoting her album and trying to forget the sting of being ignored by the HFPA for a Golden Globe. Like she had a chance against the other. What will make up for it? B’s reportedly been tapped to star in a remake of A Star is Born playing Barbra Streisand’s part. Very cool, non? Casting a black artist to fill the role? Love. Full Story

Hilary Duff and Mandy Moore last night at the (Stand Up to Cancer) Merchandise Collection Launch party. As far as I can recall, I’ve never seen Hilary’s wookie. And I’ve never seen Mandy’s either. Probably why they don’t get much blog space. It’s Christmas. Let’s give them some love. Full Story
Scarjo attended the 2008 Nobel Peace Prize concert press conference today in Oslo alongside Michael Caine and, in keeping with her recent wifely trend, looked demure and serious and, as always, totally gorgeous. She’s only 2 years older than Lindsay Lohan. Still I can’t imagine Lindsay Lohan like Scarlett Johansson in two years. Full Story
The bane of Michelle’s existence: sateen. Even worse when it comes to celebrities because you’d think they know how sh-tty sateen photographs. This is Fergie today at Selfridges in London promoting MAC. Extremely unflattering. As is the high collar though I suppose it’s not fair. Because I’ve already mentioned her neck isn’t all that cute either. Full Story
I can’t think of Kate & Leo now without thinking of Liam Neeson and Thomas Sangster in Love Actually. “Worse than the total agony of being in love?” Kills me. Anyway, as you know, Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, 10 years since Titanic, have reunited on screen for Revolutionary Road. Full Story
Exclusive photos of Degrassi cast members in LA shooting scenes for what’s rumoured to be a movie of the week to air Summer 2009…?!?!? Stacey Farber’s Ellie looks like she’s having a Britney at Venice Beach, except she has her clothes on. Word is they’ve booked a boatload of celebrity cameos – Degrassi, a Canadian show, is actually much more popular in the US. Full Story
There she is – one of our first looks at Rachel McAdams on the set of Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes. Not exactly loving the hair but that’s how they wore it then, right? Also attaching photos of newly nominated Robert Downey Jr, capping off his remarkable comeback year with an appearance at the Globes in January and looking ahead of course to more as RDJ’s The Soloist is slated for release in 2009, said to be yet another tour de force.
