Like his mentor

Emile Hirsch is a Sean Penn protégé. Professionally and personally. Recently during the Milk promotional tour, Emile was approached by two eager, Hello Kitty style fans who’d been wating, and squealing, and holding hands, and clutching their stuffed toys, angst-ridden over meeting their idol. Full Story

Button’s Best

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 9, 2009 07:21:00 January 9, 2009 07:21:00

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button – it’s a good movie, it’s an enjoyable movie, it’s a three hour movie and enduring it isn’t horrible at all… But … That’s it. My problem with Benjamin Button is that I didn’t really care about Benjamin Button. Full Story

Oh yeah it was B-tch Face!

As I mentioned earlier, see the Brange post below, Angelina Jolie supposedly cut her eye at Anne Hathaway during Anne’s acceptance speech last night at Critics’ Choice. The clip has hit YouTube. Oh la! La la la! It’s the Bitch Face to end all Bitch Faces!!! Like I’m surprised Annie’s still alive this morning! Seriously Angelina couldn’t even pretend. Full Story

Kate vs Pene

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 9, 2009 06:57:02 January 9, 2009 06:57:02

Kate Winslet won for Best Supporting Actress last night at Critics’ Choice making it a very tight race between her and Penelope Cruz for Oscar. Kate was not there last night to collect her award, hanging back instead in New York for an appearance on Letterman before heading to LA some time today to attend the Globes. Full Story

Kate’s best dress

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 9, 2009 06:46:13 January 9, 2009 06:46:13

Favourite dress of the night from Critics’ Choice – definitely Kate Beckinsale. The colour, it was so warm. And the detail…amazing. Here she is with her husband Len Wiseman, happy to be included at the party among the Best Actress nominees. Kate is not nominated for a Golden Globe and has not been announced as a presenter so she likely will not be in attendance on Sunday. Full Story

The two that don’t belong

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 9, 2009 06:36:12 January 9, 2009 06:36:12

Eva Longoria and Katy Perry… On EVERY level. Like WAY out of their league. And of course they both look like ass. Total ASS. Katy, poor thing, appears to be completely overwhelmed and tried too hard with that ridiculous dress. What the hell is she doing there??? And Eva, oh Eva, as always, armed with Ken Paves’s tacky brush, seems incapable of wearing a colour that doesn’t belong at a children’s birthday party. Full Story

Anne’s double win week?

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 9, 2009 06:27:35 January 9, 2009 06:27:35

She and Meryl Streep tied last night for Best Actress. Anne looked adorably and appropriately surprised. Meryl didn’t bother to show up. She’ll be at the Globes on Sunday, she probably didn’t feel like leaving New York two days early for yet another awards show. Amazing. Early in the season, it was thought that Sally Hawkins was the front-runner for Happy-Go-Lucky. Full Story

Empty night for the Brange

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 9, 2009 06:11:00 January 9, 2009 06:11:00

We don’t get VH1 here in Canada so I couldn’t see for myself. But word is Angelina made a bitch face when Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep were announced as co-winners for Best Actress? True or not true? Thing is… Angelina didn’t have a chance. And she would have known this. So maybe the bitch face wasn’t so much a bitch face as it was a thin face? Because as beautiful as she is, and of course she’s totally gorgeous, her face could use some fat. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

The People’s Choice Awards. Or, more appropriately, the MiniVan Majority Awards, where there’s a winner for “favourite leading lady” AND also “favourite female movie star” (!!!!)….which is why, really, they don’t matter. They don’t even matter to THEM. Still, the PCA’s are good for a few red carpet laughs. Carrie Underwood shopped at the mall. And…a chick flick throw down? Hudson vs Heigl share the same space. Girl sh-t is the best sh-t. More on that later.

Thursday – am online all day .

Yours in gossip,

Lainey

PS. The motionball galas in Vancouver and Toronto will take place on February 7 and February 27. To date, motionball has donated over a million dollars to Special Olympics Canada. Tickets for the galas are very hard to come by – the venues are spectacular, the glamour, the entertainment, the crowd, the beverages (especially in this economy!)…super swank, super fun! So you want to go?

One pair of tickets to give away for each city. If interested, send an email to [email protected] with “motionball Vancouver” or “motionball Toronto” in the title. For more information on motionball, click here.

My Golden Rumey!

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 8, 2009 18:08:41 January 8, 2009 18:08:41

Last year, due the writers’ strike, the Globes were cancelled and my Rumey missed out on her chance to work out her best chin angles on a grand, grand scale. Thankfully the HFPA extended her invitation and on Sunday night, Rumer Willis will finally wear the crown as Miss Golden Globe. Here’s Rumey today at the Beverly Hills Hotel at some fashion free-for-all where celebrities don’t have to pay for clothes. Full Story
