Yeah so this whole doting wife, delicate flower sh*t is getting as old as her face. Look at them! Look at Gran and her man getting all emotional on us on the carpet – because posing in front of hundreds of screaming journalists and fans is exactly the place to perform a nuzzle forehead and really mean it. As Marchesa goes, I guess it isn’t the worst. And the colour is gorgeous. And she is gorgeous in it. Here’s the pregnant Alba Demon, glowing tonight on the carpet. LOVE the braids. Not so much tied back into that big nest by her neck but the middle part feels soothing. Like it somehow tempers that bitch inside of her that desperately needs to yell at someone at least once an hour. Full Story
Is she freaky-looking by conventional standards? Of course. Was her dress ugly as sh*t? Absolutely. But this is what makes Tilda Swinton so f&cking cool. She.Is.Cool. SO cool. I saw her on Saturday night at the Beverly Hills Hotel wearing a bright but pale pink shift and sky high heels with white makeup and borderline ugly but at the same time sexy as all hell. Full Story
If you’re George Clooney, the King of Hollywood, and you bring a girl to the Oscars, it is for real. Like a promise ring. Like a varsity jacket in high school. First… a compliment: her dress is certainly an improvement on last year – remember that dumb ass bow? Oh Valentino. Tonight the gown was … OK. Red, one shoulder, roses, whatever. Didn’t move me. Her face however is as frightening as the GMD’s crazy teeth. It’s not nice, I know. Full Story
What’s up with the Coen Brothers? Is glib the right word? They were glib. They were honoured by the Academy and instead of being grateful, they were glib. Does being arty give you the right to be glib and ungrateful? And Jon Stewart – love Jon Stewart but wasn’t all that impressed with Jon Stewart. Full Story
Was at the Canadian Consulate Luncheon yesterday honouring Canadian nominees at this year’s Oscars. Ellen Page couldn’t make it but Jason Reitman was there with his wife and his dad and he could not have been sweeter. So humble and grateful and genuine – and Ivan Reitman (producer of Ghostbusters, Old School etc) was so proud and more emotional. Can you believe there’s actually an occurrence of real emotion this Oscar weekend?
I passed on the gift bags on the way out but I did grab something that one of you just might enjoy. See below for giveaway details.
A rare Saturday post – after all, it’s Oscar time! Spirits Awards are tonight and the guest list rivals the Academy’s! Check back today, check back tomorrow, and of course Canada, check out eTalk on CTV for our 2 hour pre-Oscar show!
Yours in gossip,
PS. Antonio Sabato Jr is not gay and broke. Actually… wait. Clarification: he’s not my gay and broke. Also not John Travolta: gay for sure, but broke? Absolutely not. And Kelly can’t dress. Not Don Johnson either.
Ellen Page, baby! Ellen Page took home the Spirit Award for Best Female Lead, Diablo Cody won for screenplay, and Juno was named Best Feature and there continues to be a buzz in Hollywood - some say it’s the same buzz felt two years ago when Crash surprised everyone, upsetting Brokeback Mountain for Best Picture at the Oscars. Kate Beckinsale at the Spirits Awards – reminds me of grade school, you know on track & field day or at the science fair they always give out a ribbon to the kid that tries and grunts the hardest but has no hope of winning? Kate Beckinsale is the red carpet version of that kid. She looks lovely, of course. Full Story
