BAFTA Best: Eva Green

Lainey Posted by Lainey at February 12, 2007 12:00:00 February 12, 2007 12:00:00

Drama vs Caution. I’ll take Drama any day. And any girl who refuses to play it safe without falling off the deep end will win my heart every time. That’s why we all love Gwen Stefani. And that’s why I love Eva Green. Sure…she could have pulled her hair back in a classy conservative twist, she could have walked a straight column with a pair of Louboutins and earned a gold star, she could have called Vera Wang and asked for organza and made us believe we could too. Full Story

BAFTA Best: Jake Gyllenhaal

Lainey Posted by Lainey at February 12, 2007 12:00:00 February 12, 2007 12:00:00

Be still my quivering loins. And hope to Goddess Sienna doesn’t get her Skank all over him. Because while all the Toothy clues may point to him, I’m telling you, from what I hear from my own slamdunk sources, Jakey G is not gay…though I can certainly see why the ‘Mos might want him to be. Getting better with every year – actors always struggle in their 20s you know. Full Story

BAFTA Geriatric: Sienna Miller

Lainey Posted by Lainey at February 12, 2007 12:00:00 February 12, 2007 12:00:00

Source Old socialite preserved by gin and tonic – worse still, it makes her look (gasp!) wide. And even though the back is lovely, the front is Pure Mature. The accessories too. Suitable perhaps for the Chairman’s wife with too much plastic surgery but on a 26 year old “fashion icon”? Please. Full Story

BAFTA Pop: Kylie Minogue

Lainey Posted by Lainey at February 12, 2007 12:00:00 February 12, 2007 12:00:00

Source Criticised for being overly informal but how can you not defend Kylie Minogue? Kylie after all is a pop star. Kylie is a gay icon. Kylie is showing off a post-Cancer body. Kylie is single, she is flamboyant, she deserves to be as fabulous as she wants. Full Story

BAFTA Quiveration: James McAvoy

Lainey Posted by Lainey at February 12, 2007 12:00:00 February 12, 2007 12:00:00

Breakthrough year for James. Fantastic supporting player for Forest Whittaker in the Last King of Scotland and coming up – Penelope starring Christina Ricci, produced by Reese Witherspoon. I saw it at the Toronto International Film Festival, MAJOR quiveration…a young fellow new on the scene worthy of Cougar Rape. Full Story

Best BAFTA Ass: Emily Blunt

Lainey Posted by Lainey at February 12, 2007 12:00:00 February 12, 2007 12:00:00

Source Girl has a KILLER body. Never mind the lame dress and the rather unremarkable hair, Emily Blunt’s body is quickly becoming The Standard. She is not a toothpick and she is also not super curvy. She has breasts, she has a booty, she has toned arms that won’t snap, she has hips that can actually sway, an ass with a personality – in other words the perfect straddle between thin and voluptuous…if only she smiled just a little wider and a little more? Full Story

BAFTA Prom: Thandie Newton

Lainey Posted by Lainey at February 12, 2007 12:00:00 February 12, 2007 12:00:00

Could be worse, I suppose. Mariah Carey could have been wearing it. Or Jessica Simpson. Or even Victoria Beckham. There could have been tits pouring out and pink lipstick and a Ken Paves weave to paint the whole thing trailer. But an atrocity on Thandie Newton doesn’t seem so atrocious – usually so delicate and beautiful and flawless and while this is a huge, prom pouffy disappointment, it’s also not that bad. Full Story

BAFTA Best Vegas Underrated: Toni Collette

Lainey Posted by Lainey at February 12, 2007 12:00:00 February 12, 2007 12:00:00

Source Hard to resist, isn’t she? The dress is so Bey0nce but still…sometimes it’s the wearer and not the dress, yes? On Toni Collette, tacky becomes tasteful, cheese becomes charming – an Aussie touch of Vegas…love, love, love.  Full Story

BAFTA Boring & Frumpy: Pene & Kate

Lainey Posted by Lainey at February 12, 2007 12:00:00 February 12, 2007 12:00:00

Source Penelope – does it feel like you’ve seen it before? Not at all offensive but not terribly exciting either. And I think Ikea makes a set of sheets in this pattern, I’m just sayin’… Kate – it hurts to say it, we all love Kate Winslet but… well… I think we can all agree – this is not her best best. Full Story

The BAFTAs

Lainey Posted by Lainey at February 12, 2007 12:00:00 February 12, 2007 12:00:00

Last one before The Big Show, Helen Mirren and Forest Whitaker and Jennifer Hudson have swept everything, but as I said a few weeks ago, Eddie Murphy is by no means a lock. The British gave Best Supporting Actor to Alan Arkin who is workin’ it hard, hard, hard on the campaign trail. Would love to see him take it on Oscar night. Full Story

Britney be Whitney

Lainey Posted by Lainey at February 12, 2007 12:00:00 February 12, 2007 12:00:00

Whitney at Clive’s annual pre-Grammy party on Saturday. Admit it. Once upon a time, you wrote off Whitney Houston. And if you really want to deny it, refresh your memory here – not too long ago, Whitney was Britney. And now, now that she’s purged the Bobby leach, with the eternal love and support of Clive Davis, Whitney is back looking better than ever. Full Story
