Dear Gossips,

Yesterday was Mid-Autumn Festival, like Chinese Thanksgiving. That’s when we’re supposed to eat moon cakes because it always happens on a full moon. As you know, the moon was a big deal last night because of the lunar eclipse.  Read Full Intro

Taylor Swift brought her 1989 tour home to Nashville this weekend and there was guest upon guest upon guest upon guest, but by far the biggest guest and get of the show was Mick Jagger himself. They performed Satisfaction together. You know how Paul McCartney keeps showing up at everything and performing for everyone? And, like, I know it’s Paul McCartney but…dude… can we keep it special, please? That’s not Mick Jagger. Full Story

London Fields is one of the worst movies I’ve seen this year, and I’ll get to sh*tting on it in a second, but first, an odd thing happened TIFF with this movie. I saw it at a press screening at the festival—Joanna and I were both completely floored by its unmitigated rancidness—but before it premiered for the public, it was pulled from the TIFF lineup because the director, Matthew Cullen, sued the producers Full Story

Celebrity apologies usually come in two flavors: 1) I’m sorry you’re upset, and 2) I’m sorry I got caught (sub-category; I’m sorry you misunderstood). Owning personal responsibility is, depressingly, rare in this strata of humanity, but when Michael B. Jordan found himself the target of public outrage, he offered up a thoughtful apology the likes of which we rarely see from celebrities. Full Story

TMZ has shots of them at Disney World together this weekend. Then they turned up in Miami for brunch after she watched him perform. That’s a sleepover. TMZ spoke to sources who say it’s not a dating situation but that the two have “absolutely hooked up”. Full Story

A lot of bricks are being thrown at Stonewall, and with good reason. The film has been savagely attacked by critics for whitewashing the 1969 Stonewall Riots, a pivotal turning point for the LGBTQ rights movement in the U.S. Beyond that, it’s been hit by several boycotts and grossed a paltry $839 per theatre in its opening weekend Full Story

My friend Lorella, who lives in England, texted me this morning: They’re calling Kate’s hair a “gringe”. Grown out fringe. I think that’s worse than the actual haircut. Would you avoid a haircut because the actual name of the haircut sucks? “Gringe” is a terrible word. Full Story

Don’t think too hard about Anne Hathaway in The Intern

Nancy Meyers’s latest Upper East Side White People With Problems movie, The Intern, follows the likes of It’s Complicated and Something’s Gotta Give, except The Intern has been liberally doused with hipster flavor in an attempt to appeal to The Youths. Manhattan has been traded for Brooklyn—sorry, Brooklyn, as the location of a Nancy Meyers movie you are no longer hip—and the “people of a certain age” rom-com plot has been replaced with a platonic, inter-generational friendship between a thirty-something Millennial and a septuagenarian Baby Boomer. Full Story
