Dear Gossips,

Last week after Beyonce’s VOGUE cover – and remember, it’s the September issue – was released, I wrote about the fact that in the excerpts that were made available, there were no quotes from the B herself, only designers.  Read Full Intro

Karlie Kloss was at the airport and took a photo of some of the September issues – she has two covers. She also tagged the magazines and the women in the photos – Oprah, Demi Lovato, Salma Hayek, Taylor Swift. You know who was omitted? Katy Perry. Don’t these “squad goal feminists” know anything? That just makes you look petty. Full Story

The Diary of a Teenage Girl is a film about discovery, and a big part of the joy in watching it is discovering things alongside the protagonist and narrator, Minnie (British actress Bel Powley, making a case for international stardom), a wildly charming lead who balances naiveté and precocity without ever dipping into cloying or pretentious. Full Story

Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are working on Damien Chazelle’s La La Land. I think these are the first shots we’ve gotten of them in the same frame, so I’m attaching for you to look at, even though there’s nothing new to say. It’s a musical. They’ll be singing and dancing. Full Story

This month, Jessica Alba covers Allure and Gwyneth Paltrow is on the cover of Fast Company. The stories revolve around The Honest Co. and Goop – billion-dollar evaluations and contextual commerce and investment (both financial and personal) and of course, the idea of lifestyle, that they are both, in their own ways, experts. Full Story

Salma Hayek has worked hard as a producer to get Lebanese philosopher Khalil Gibran’s seminal collection of poem-essays, The Prophet, to the big screen, and she’s finally succeeded, in the form of an animated film. The book, one of the most popular in the world, is a collection of parables on topics ranging from love and sorrow to work and clothes, and pretty much everything in between, but the movie only adapts eight of the twenty-six essays, clocking in at a lean eighty-four minutes. Full Story

Anne Hathaway has signed onto a limited TV series called The Ambassador’s Wife. Adapted from a novel by Jennifer Steil, it’s about a woman who is kidnapped in the Middle East. If this were 1982 I’d say it would be a derivative bodice-ripper full of dashing sheikhs and sexually repressed white women, but since it’s 2015 I assume this will be depressing as sh*t and attempt to make us think about Who Is The Real Enemy, Anyway, and What Is War, And Why Do We Have It? The logline reminds me of Maggie Gyllenhaal’s recent miniseries, The Honorable Woman, which is set in Israel/Palestine and is really good, but is also depressing as sh*t, and attempts to make us think about Who Is The Real Enemy, et cetera. Full Story

Today’s open was about how Beyonce has gone all Greta Garbo on us, becoming more and more inaccessible, because Beyonce would rather be an enigma than (pretend to) be your friend. That’s not the Taylor Swift approach. One of Taylor’s fans posted this GIF on her Tumblr Full Story
