What did I tell you earlier? About Gwyneth Paltrow? When I posted about G this morning and her birthday-gram for her fiancé Brad Falchuk, at the end of that article, I told you she wasn’t done. Full Story

Justin Theroux hides his hand

Justin Theroux was papped in New York yesterday with his left hand shoved in his pocked, presumably to hide the fact that he’s not wearing a wedding ring anymore. There are some other shots of him taken by another photo agency where you can see his hand and no ring on his finger but the outfit is the same and the point is the same – he’s not wearing a ring anymore, which makes sense because he’s not married anymore. Full Story

Bruce Willis in Death Wish

Death Wish began life as a pulpy crime novel, then came a film adaptation in 1974 starring Charles Bronson. That movie borrows from the exploitation sub-genres that were popular in the 1960s and 1970s, but where exploitation cinema largely arose from marginalized communities creating their own narratives outside a system that did not welcome them, Death Wish just uses unabashed, unexamined violence to let a white guy rampage Full Story

A conversation came up at work the other day about the actresses considered to be “America’s Sweethearts.” The usual suspects were named like Sandra Bullock, Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Garner. Then, Gina Rodriguez came up. I don’t think anyone agreed with me but I consider Gina Rodriguez to be in this category of America’s Sweethearts. Full Story

US Weekly published an article yesterday about Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx’s relationship. I don’t have a lot of faith in US’s reporting anymore, ever since the magazine was acquired by American Media Inc (The National Enquirer, Star Magazine, etc) but I found the description of Katie and Jamie’s situation interesting, particularly the wording:  “Their relationship works because of the love, compassion, trust and support they have for each other,” a source close to Holmes explains in the new issue of Us Weekly. Full Story

Chadwick Boseman and Lupita Nyong’o are both presenting at the Oscars on Sunday. No idea if they’re presenting together, but they’re both riding the Black Panther high—and it will be the dominant film again on Oscar weekend which, if Get Out were to pull off some kind of upset, would be serendipitous—so they both get to do that superhero strut on stage, together or separate. Full Story

I love pilot announcements at this time of year because there are inevitably surprises in terms of what gets picked up, and because show ‘loglines’ – the short, two-or-three-sentence descriptions of upcoming shows – inevitably look different when there’s a star visual attached. Full Story

Chris Hemsworth could be a Man in Black

If Sony simply must continue the Men in Black franchise, rebooting it with Chris Hemsworth is not the worst idea I’ve heard. (The worst idea was combining MiB with the Jump Street franchise, but that, thankfully, seems to have been abandoned.) It sounds like the new plan is a soft reboot in the vein of Jurassic World, with a new cast carrying the story as Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are not expected to return. Full Story

The Academy is celebrating the 90th Oscars this weekend. The Oscars are always a big ass deal in Hollywood but when it’s a nice round number like that, they usually want to make it even more extra. And the challenge with the Oscars every year, though they may not admit it, is that many of the films nominated aren’t seen by most of the television viewing audience. Full Story
