New New Star Wars covers Rolling Stone this month, and it features an interview with ole grumpy guts himself, Harrison Ford. Or, as he reveals he once wanted to be called—Kurt Affair. KURT AFFAIR. Let that sink in. Apparently Ford was once advised to change his name as a young actor, so he suggested “Kurt Affair” as his nom de plume, and the studio executives decided that “Harrison Ford” wasn’t so bad after all. Full Story

Brange like us

Brange was photographed shopping on Sunday at an open market in Cambodia. Look at them, him in particular, holding onto his camera pouch near his hip, standing behind her like it’s a scene from the mall, especially this time of year. This is exactly what my parents were like when my ma used to be able to walk properly and they would go shopping. Full Story

After not having much of an opinion on her, Scarlett Johansson has risen to the top of my “favorite actresses” list over the last few years. It’s due to a combination of behind the scenes strategizing I appreciate—she’s engineered a career resurgence every young actress should study—and making movies I like. Full Story

Seriously. That’s what Variety is calling Leonardo DiCaprio and Alejandro G Inarritu on the new issue, just in time for the holiday break, so that Oscar voters can read about The Struggle. I don’t know why they just don’t rename the film The Struggle. As you would expect, the article is about what a f-cking struggle it was to make the movie. Full Story

Before Poker Stars and Party Poker and World Series of Poker, there was Hong Kong cinema. Hong Kong was obsessed with poker as pop culture well before it became standard 24/7 on television. Gamblers and gangsters have always been an entertainment storyline in Chinese cinema. When I was growing up, the most well-respected actor in Asia was Chow Yun-Fat. Full Story

Best of 2015: The Emancipation of Zayn

Maria Posted by Maria at December 15, 2015 21:29:11 December 15, 2015 21:29:11

Those of us who lived through a New Kids on the Block/Spice Girl/Take That breakup were not that fussed by Zayn leaving 1D. After a certain age, you know not to put all your faith in a group because someone (ahem, Geri!) will break your heart. As Lainey said at the time, it’s not a matter of if, but WHEN. Full Story

We learned last week following the SAG and Golden Globe nominations that, right now, Bryan Cranston could be a legitimate challenger to Leonardo DiCaprio for Best Actor. Trumbo will play well to those old f-ckers in the Academy and Bryan Cranston is very, very well liked among his peers. Also consider the EGOT factor. Full Story
