First… Please enjoy these photos of Idris Elba eating a donut. There are, like, 3 people in the entire world who can eat a donut and still manage to look attractive. He would be one of them. Next… Simon Pegg is co-writing the next Star Trek movie. He was asked at CinemaCon yesterday about his progress…and whether or not the rumours were true that Idris would be joining the cast. Full Story

Tom Cruise was in Vegas for CinemaCon as part of the Paramount presentation, especially important because Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation comes out in July and, well, they want it to make big money. They need it to make big money. Footage from the movie was screened for theatre owners and some film geeks. Full Story

A stripped-down, more sinister companion piece to Her, Alex Garland’s Ex Machina is a stellar piece of science fiction. It’s eerie and thoughtful and provoking, featuring gorgeous natural visuals and beautifully integrated computer effects, and though none of the questions it asks are ground-breaking, the way Garland, who also wrote the script, plays out each line of questioning results in a tense, satisfying conclusion. Full Story

Emma Stone will be heading to Cannes this year, her first time ever, with Woody Allen’s Irrational Man. And she’ll have to do some promotion for Aloha. But since wrapping up her Broadway run in Cabaret in February, she’s actually been pretty light on schedule. Down time. And relaxing. Full Story

I remember talking with a friend in comedy a few months ago, and we were talking about how Full House comes up all of the time. Like, no matter how burly or brash the comedians you’re working with, no matter how blue the humour, a Full House reference lands with everyone. We weren’t sure why exactly, but it did kind of seem to flip the script of ‘family’ shows at the time, in the sense that any of the myriad adult-kid pairings were not exactly going to be run of the mill. Full Story

Ben Affleck was featured in Finding Your Roots last year on PBS. During the research process, it was discovered that he had ancestors who were slave owners. He asked Henry Louis Gates Jr (Skip) to not include that part in the episode. Click here for a refresher if you missed that article from Monday. Full Story

Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast rounded out its cast this week, getting ready to shoot later this year. Emma Watson is already on board as Belle, and Dan Stevens and Luke Evans join her as the Beast and Gaston, respectively. The cast is actually really interesting—Ian McKellan (Cogsworth), Emma Thompson (Mrs. Full Story

Lee Daniels was in New York last night as one of the TIME 100 honourees. Empire has been the biggest new show of the year, and it’s more than just ratings. It’s representation. On so many levels. Empire started airing during award season; I couldn’t get to it until after the Oscars, and then I had a book debate to study for and other deadlines so I didn’t start until end of March. Full Story

Emma Watson at 25

Emma Watson just turned 25 last week. She was in New York last night at the TIME 100 event celebrating the list of most influential people, an acknowledgment of her work with the United Nations, crusading for gender equality. I mean it was almost too much to hope for, you know? That she would play Hermione and then grow up and not only not disappoint but also be so… Hermione. Full Story

Sandra Bullock: Most Beautiful

Lainey Posted by Lainey at April 22, 2015 15:05:11 April 22, 2015 15:05:11

Is it that time already? For some reason I thought this was a summer issue… It’s PEOPLE’s 2015 Most Beautiful. Last year, Lupita Nyong’o was Most Beautiful. This year… Sandra Bullock. At 50. And in typical Sandy fashion, she kinda laughed about it but didn’t shut it down either, agreeing to an exclusive photo shoot and interview, during which she talks about her relationship with 5 year old Louis, and the hilarious discussions they have about girlfriends …and Lego. Full Story
