Ryan Gosling has returned to Cannes, this time as a director. He and several members of his Lost River cast, including Christina Hendricks and Matt Smith, were at the photo call today to represent the film. Haven’t read any reviews yet. I’ll do a pick up on this with the carpet shots from the Palais when critics start releasing their comments. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

Didn’t watch the Billboard Music Awards last night. I was at a screening instead. But I tapped out the moment I saw that Jennifer Lopez was escorted down the red carpet by her Slum Lover. Out. Not into it. My only takeaway? Her hair. Am going to try this tomorrow on The Social only without adding pieces.

So Justin Bieber, Ebola Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan were all in Cannes this weekend. That sounds about right. And now we know why Brange was avoiding it. They spent their time in New Orleans raising money for Make It Right. However, Channing Tatum and Ryan Gosling have arrived. And that’s what we’ll cover here instead. Also Beyonce.

It’s a long weekend in Canada and most people are taking the holiday off but I’m in LA on assignment for etalk until this afternoon. Am blogging early this morning local time, then blocking off a few hours for the junket, then rushing to the airport to make the 3:30pm flight back to Toronto. I’ll get to as much as we can and we’ll pick it back up tomorrow.

Yours in gossip,

Smutty Tingles

As expected, Blake Lively accompanied husband to the Cannes premiere of The Captive on Friday night. When I saw her dress, what popped into my head was... Grace Of Monaco, the opening night film, starring Nicole Kidman. Blake was there too. She wore brown-ish wine-colour Gucci. Boring. But can you imagine if she'd chosen this one? I would have liked to see the look on Granny Freeze's face. Full Story

Kate Hudson was seen around New York today presumably to promote Wish I Was Here, Zach Braff's Kickstarter movie. A new trailer for the film was broadcast on The Today Show this morning. It's supposed to make you feel a lot of feelings, burst with all those feelings. The strongest feeling I'm feeling having seen this preview is curiosity about Joey King. Full Story

Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden were papped leaving the gym together the other day. PEOPLE reported yesterday that they’ve been hanging out a lot at her place. And that while they were at the gym, they seemed “very friendly”. So I guess they’re dating? I can hear Traci Melchor Full Story

Down to ride ‘til the very end  It’s me and boyfriend  It’s been a week since we saw Solange Knowles try to put a hole through Jay Z’s dick with stiletto in an elevator. Not surprisingly, SNL parodied it on the season finale as the cold open. “Kick it!” Also, note the wind machine. Full Story

“Godzilla is poised to be a breakout hit in May. I hope it overachieves.” That’s me, on April 9. One month later, Godzilla is breakout hit, crushing the box office with the year-to-date’s second-biggest opening of $93.2 million. Full Story

Gwyneth & Chris: consciously uncoupled inseparable

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin were out for dinner on Saturday night. They went to the Chateau Marmont. Not exactly low profile. I feel like we’ve seen them together more often since they consciously uncoupled than we did when they were consciously coupled. It’s so Gwyneth, isn’t it? It’s so spectacularly Gwyneth. Full Story

Mad Men Season 7 Episode 6 recap Oh my God, oh my God. I’ve always loved this show, and loved writing about it. But sometimes it’s still, you know, a commitment. This was not that. This was …not just a pleasure, probably a gift.  Because there is nothing I love more than an episode of this show where the work – the actual stuff they do – is the stand-in for everything else. Full Story
