Her purple lilac dress was stunning. It wasn’t just a lovely colour, the design of it was such that the colour seemed to drip down her body from her chest, as though she was covered in purple paint. Amazing. But the dress is only 80% of the equation. Her hair is great, her makeup is great … The specs are killer. Full Story

(The bottom of this post is NSFW) “Together on stage for the first time…” That’s how Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan were introduced. They were there to represent Fifty Shades Of Grey. They were there to promote the movie. To put it in your heads that you should consider the movie. Full Story

Anna Faris & Chris Pratt: Globes Battle of the Network Stars

Is that the oldest, lamest reference? It started before I was born! But this is what they are. Anna Faris and Chris Pratt are two of the few stars who are actually on Network TV anymore – Amy Poehler is, of course, another one. So not to put too much weight on their young and exciting shoulders, but basically they’re the coolest people on TV now and need to save everyone from fleeing to cable and online. Full Story

Matthew McConaughey & Channing Tatum: Globes present and future

Matthew McConaughey is an Oscar winner. You would not have believed this 5 years ago. Maybe even 3 years ago. Back then he was synonymous with Kate Hudson. Back then he was good for taking his shirt off, thank you Matt Damon. If Matthew McConaughey can win an Oscar… why not, someday, Channing Tatum? After all, Channing Tatum, at this stage in his career, and at this age, is much more directed about his choices than McConaughey was at the same point. Full Story

Julianne Moore: Globe Joy

Gorgeous is thrown around a lot. We use it all the time, probably too much. (Even though I do not regret at all that I used it to describe Lorelei Linklater who probably should have gotten more screen time.) But Julianne Moore is gorgeous. She is luminous. That dress was perfect, without being over the top. Full Story

Mark Ruffalo at the Globes: the future Keaton

Some actors just go about their thing, they’re good at their thing, but it’s not flashy, and everyone likes them, so much, but Out There, beyond the People Who Know, nobody notices. Until much later. I feel like that’s what’s happened to Michael Keaton. And it gives me great comfort to believe that that’s what might happen for Mark Ruffalo. Full Story

When I was about nine, I found these shoes. Like I can see them plain as day. They were oxfords. Magenta with purple in the saddle part, stiff Kelly-green soles. The laces were sky-blue-and-white. My mother bought them for me even though I was probably going to grow out of them in five minutes. Later that week I was wearing them and fell into a swampy pond. Full Story

By the end of this article, you’re probably going to tell me to shove it up my ass. If that means Allison Williams styles, I’m all about that life. F-CK yeah. Sorry. It just… it’s just such a great position, you know? Anyway, about these two slouchy, very similar dresses on Kristen Wiig and Amanda Peet? Totally. Full Story

Julianna Margulies: Globes Photocopy

You know what I mean? I know it’s lame to even talk about photocopies now, but I’m not up on my 3D printing jargon. But she has often worn jewel columns, and strapless dresses, and bodices with a bit of a stiff raised front that come slightly away from her chest. This all just seemed like a remix of Margulies from various times that seemed to end up a little bit askew. Full Story

Some parts of this post are NSFW. For three years now I’ve been trying to figure out what it is about the way Allison Williams dresses that … doesn’t interest me at all. I think I’ve finally figured it out. She’s like the girl in school whose dad is the principal or one of the teachers. Full Story

Safe to say now that Boyhood is the clear Best Picture frontrunner for the Oscars now, right? The Globes don’t necessarily accurately predict Oscars. But they certainly can influence Academy members to pay more attention to the films and actors that they honour. So Ethan Hawke is most definitely going to the Oscars. Full Story
