When I was about nine, I found these shoes. Like I can see them plain as day. They were oxfords. Magenta with purple in the saddle part, stiff Kelly-green soles. The laces were sky-blue-and-white. My mother bought them for me even though I was probably going to grow out of them in five minutes. Later that week I was wearing them and fell into a swampy pond. Full Story

By the end of this article, you’re probably going to tell me to shove it up my ass. If that means Allison Williams styles, I’m all about that life. F-CK yeah. Sorry. It just… it’s just such a great position, you know? Anyway, about these two slouchy, very similar dresses on Kristen Wiig and Amanda Peet? Totally. Full Story

Julianna Margulies: Globes Photocopy

You know what I mean? I know it’s lame to even talk about photocopies now, but I’m not up on my 3D printing jargon. But she has often worn jewel columns, and strapless dresses, and bodices with a bit of a stiff raised front that come slightly away from her chest. This all just seemed like a remix of Margulies from various times that seemed to end up a little bit askew. Full Story

NSFW - Allison Williams was better on another channel

Some parts of this post are NSFW. For three years now I’ve been trying to figure out what it is about the way Allison Williams dresses that … doesn’t interest me at all. I think I’ve finally figured it out. She’s like the girl in school whose dad is the principal or one of the teachers. Full Story

Ethan Hawke: Globes buzzkill

Safe to say now that Boyhood is the clear Best Picture frontrunner for the Oscars now, right? The Globes don’t necessarily accurately predict Oscars. But they certainly can influence Academy members to pay more attention to the films and actors that they honour. So Ethan Hawke is most definitely going to the Oscars. Full Story

Oprah Winfrey: Globes Godmother

Oprah looked great and glam, like she always looks great and glam. I appreciate fully that she is at the point now, not unlike Meryl, where she’s like ‘you know what, I’m not messing with my look anymore. We do what works’. I do wish, though, that we’d been able to look at someone else. Full Story

Maggie & Jake Gyllenhaal: the Globe siblings

How many times did Maggie Gyllenhaal refer to “my brother” when she was up there accepting her Golden Globe? A lot. That made me wonder… What does it take to pass the Maggie Gyllenhaal Test? If you want to be with Jakey, you have to pass the Maggie Test. Who, then, failed the Maggie Test? Did Reese Witherspoon? No drama there. Full Story

Ruth Wilson’s Globes tone

There’s a sentiment out there that The Affair is not serious, or something. Or that maybe because people are being horrible to each other that it’s not worth watching? I’m not sure exactly what it is that people want from it. I was so pleased to see something so resolutely family-based winning awards. Full Story

Emily Blunt: Globes Best Braid Crown

There were a few braid crowns last night at the Globes. Joanne Froggatt, who won for Downton Abbey, was probably the worst. Emily Blunt probably did it the best. But that’s also helped by her highlights. If the hair is just dark, it’s almost not worth it. You can never see it. As for her dress, she’s wearing Michael Kors. Full Story

It was Retta who caught it. Isn’t it always Retta who catches everything?  So Viola Davis is wrapping up an interview with NBC and looking gorgeous, and so much looser and less uptight than Annalise Keating. So she’s talking with Natalie Morales who says “Okay thank you so much Shond- Thank you so much, Viola Davis”. Full Story

She’s been SOOOOOOOOOOO safe this entire award season campaign. Too safe. Maybe after Thursday, when the Oscar nominations have been announced, we’ll see a little more personality to her fashion choices. Because last night wasn’t memorable. It wasn’t totally sh-tty, but it was… Nothing. Full Story
