Prince Harry’s family weekend

It was family duty over romance for Prince Harry this weekend. Here he is yesterday, Remembrance Sunday, with Prince William at the Cenotaph. Princess Kate was also there, joining her mother-in-law, Duchess Camilla, and Sophie, Countess of Wessex. Last night, William also attended and presented at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards.
On Saturday, as expected, Harry was at the rugby match between England and South Africa. Despite hopeful speculation that Megan Markle would join him and give us the first photos of them together, she was not there as US Weekly reports that she flew back to Toronto so Harry hung out instead with Serene Charlene of Monaco. Which means we’re still waiting to see the visual manifestation of the Love Shield.
As noted last week, Harry leaves for his 2 week tour of the Caribbean 6 days from now. If he attempts another undercover trip to Toronto, it’ll be a short stay as he’ll have to be back to London to prepare and then depart with the rest of the tour team. I’m not sure what the optics would be if he was like, yeah, everyone, I’ll just meet you there. Presumably then, it’s another 3 weeks at least until they see each other. And then it’s the holiday season. Their first holiday season as a couple. What are your smutty senses saying about this relationship? The royal family tradition is to spend Christmas at Sandringham. Meghan’s not going to Sandringham for Christmas unless… unless… you know.
And that would be fast. It took years for Princess Kate to get to Sandringham. But then again, Will and Kate were much younger when they met. Harry is now 32 years old. And has always been much more passionate and impulsive than his brother. He may want to just get on with it. But I feel like a long courtship might be expected and encouraged. And besides, we haven’t even seen them together yet, so talk of, you know, YOU KNOW, is probably really premature. Still. If there’s anyone unpredictable in this family, it’s Prince Harry. A week ago today you would never have thought you’d wake up to a public statement from Harry, under the royal crest, officialising his girlfriend and then fiercely – and rather romantically – defending her. So… a December surprise isn’t impossible, is it?
