The Cambridges were out today in London supporting Poppy Day staff and volunteers. At some point, they went on a bus ride. The poppies are for Armistice Day in England which is Remembrance Day here in Canada which, I think, is Veterans Day in the US.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We had to memorise that poem when I was in school and recite it right before the moment of silence at 11am. Do they still do this?
In other Kate news – apparently she has a friend who’s trying to get her to dress more “quirky” and vintage. Erase the Middleton style? I’m not sure that’s possible.
