Are you trying to be princessy?
Fine, but only if you play her like Tracy Flick. Because that would be a hilariously awesome movie. Tracy Flick as Grace Kelly? They did say that the Grace Kelly biopic would focus on her political manoeuvrings to save Monaco...
As you know, they’re planning at movie about Princess Grace. Click here for the previous discussion about who could be cast. So...this is how Reese Witherspoon showed up at the LACMA event on Saturday night. And my first thought was - are you campaigning for the part?
The Princess is primarily known for her elegance and her, um, serenity, especially since her tragic death. But people forget how shrewd Grace was, even then, as a Hollywood starlet, even with her very first contract. And while I know you’d prefer to remember her as a virgin princess, back in the day, in that industry, well... it’s a little naive, I’m sorry, to think of her as an angel. After all, she campaigned her way to an Oscar over Judy Garland.
I’d love to see them show her as she was: a very complicated, very calculating woman. And those re NOT bad words. Those are interesting words. She was so much more interesting than her “ice princess” good looks get her credit for. As for whether or not Reese Witherspoon is suited for it - they say that every actress in Hollywood that fits the age and range, ish, wants it badly, and no doubt, she’s one of them. Given her status - though Forbes may not agree, more on this later - she’s probably one of the first to be sent the script. You know I’m not her biggest fan, but going back to Tracy Flick, there’s a lot of talent in Reese that she doesn’t use often enough. For the most part, since June Carter Cash, she’s simply been collecting a paycheque. If she flexes though, in this role, I don’t know that I would totally, totally hate it. Are we fighting?
PS. Hair like this never works for me. Because unless you are 1. an actual princess or 2. Jennifer Lopez, it’s always a bridal portrait from the catalogue at the mall.
