Divergent first teaser Shailene’s somehow unannoying VMAs

There was a kind of feeling of quiet despair at the VMAs. Did you feel it, at home on your couch? I think it was because there was so much promise – NSYNC,  Taylor and Harry, Drake – and then so much sweaty disappointment.   The four members of NSYNC who know that was their last TV appearance ever, the series of awards Drake and Swifty and Rihanna didn’t win, the terrible audio, the distraction over why Gaga has suddenly and completely lost her game…you know?  It was a night of ups and downs, and I think you’d be lying if you said you weren’t squinting in confusion and a little anxiety at the screen at least some of the time. Full Story

Dauntless at Comic-Con. It was a big day for Divergent at Comic-Con to kick off this year’s Dork Storm, as Sarah calls it. Look how many outfits Shailene Woodley had to wear. Woodley of course is the new would-be Kristen Stewart/Jennifer Lawrence, headlining the film adaptation of Veronica Roth’s book series. Full Story

In the wake of the announcement that Sony had pre-emptively greenlit two more Spider-Man movies with Andrew Garfield, it was also announced that Shailene Woodley, cast as Mary Jane Watson, was being cut from Spider-Man 2. At first, this wasn’t that big a deal. With two more movies to flesh out, taking time between love interests wouldn’t be a bad idea, and Woodley’s initial comments Full Story

Tris glows

Duana wrote about the Entertainment Weekly Divergent cover yesterday -- click here for a refresher. She wasn’t feeling it. Specifically the way Shailene Woodley looks as Tris, her point being that it’s called Divergent for a reason. Tris is Divergent. Full Story

Am I one of them?

Duana Posted by Duana at June 19, 2013 16:26:55 June 19, 2013 16:26:55

A hypocrite, I mean. I really don’t want to be. But I can feel it closing in. Is it nobler to admit it, or to feign that it’s not happening? The truth is always the way, right? Here’s what I’m saying: after whining about how people have to learn to interpret fiction onscreen differently than the fiction in their heads, I need to point out that this Entertainment Weekly cover Full Story

Lack of Diverse Imagination

Duana Posted by Duana at April 24, 2013 19:23:10 April 24, 2013 19:23:10

I don’t like feeling duped… Last night I got all screechy hysterical on Twitter over what was promised to be a “sneak peek” of Divergent. Basically I was one step away from calling Lainey to hold my hand while we watched. Bah. This single photo is not a sneak peek Full Story

I apologise in advance. For many of you, The Fault In Our Stars by John Green was one of the best books of 2012. I liked it ok. But I didn’t love it. I didn’t cry. I tried to cry, I did. But it just wasn’t there for me. And I’m sorry. Maybe it’s because I’ve read a lot of YA? Green’s Looking For Alaska and Will Grayson, Will Grayson were better, in my mind. Full Story

Remember when some silly random rumour went around about Alex Pettyfer confirming the coveted part of Four in Divergent? It will not be Alex Pettyfer. It will be Theo James. You may know him as Mr Pamuk from Season 1 of Downton Abbey whose body they had to drag down the hall. Or if you watch Golden Boy on CBS. Full Story

About Last Night (Again)

Maria Posted by Maria at June 29, 2012 16:01:18 June 29, 2012 16:01:18

According to The Hollywood Reporter, About Last Night is set for a remake. The first thing I thought was that’s not possible, the movie isn’t old enough (and neither am I). Released in 1986, it holds up pretty  well with its, “boy meets girl in a bar, they have a one-night stand and try to have a relationship” premise. Full Story
