I was in the best shape of my life recently, and doing a mix of workouts: hiking, at the gym with a trainer, running, yoga, etc. Unfortunately I tore my ACL about a month ago, and the MRI says I also fractured a couple of bones I have an appointment with a specialist in a month, and will then have to wait to get surgery sometime thereafter. Full Article

Hi Hayley! I've been doing CrossFit for about three years and I love it, 3-4 times a week. The reason why I enjoy CrossFit is because the workouts are different every time. I used to run and every time I would run I would experience foot pain or knee pain, which I don't get with CrossFit.  My question is, how do I incorporate some sort of cardio in my life? I notice that CrossFit is starting to make my body look a certain way and make my clothes fit differently (broader shoulders, larger quads). Full Article

Hi Hayley, July last year I started running again. When I say ‘again’, I had previously used running intermittently as nothing more than a weight loss tool and didn’t veer off of the treadmill. I started running (outdoors) as a way to burn off some of the excess weight that crept on after I moved to France, and found that I really loved it! So much so that I signed up for my first marathon - a hilly trail course in the Scottish Highlands – which I finished in just under 4:15. Full Article

Hi Hayley! It recently came to my attention, after seeing a podiatrist regarding pain in my feet, that my pelvis isn't evenly aligned (i.e. my left side is lower) and that my pelvis is tilted back, causing my butt to stick out more than it should. Who knew!? Anyway, now I'm feeling self-conscious about how I look when I walk and also concerned that I'm doing some major alignment damage to my body. Full Article

Hi Hayley, I just recently moved to Vermont - land of hills, mountains and great hiking everywhere. I've been looking forward to getting more in shape, but without fail, every hike starts okay - usually with an incline with varying degrees of steepness and then 5-8 minutes in, I'm wheezing, can't breathe, and normally need to stop soon after to catch my breath. Full Article

The beauty of explosive training is that you don’t need a gym to do it and I feel like most training scenes from boxing movies usually take place outside, in the cold. Am I right? All you need to do is find a park that has some stairs you can run up and down, a bench you can step and jump onto and a field where you can run sprints. Full Article

Hi Haley! Over the last year, a period of super high stress followed by a knee injury made me lose my good fitness and eating habits - and gain more weight than I'd like to admit to. Since fall still feels like the "new year" to me I'm putting on a big push to get back into my good habits, lose fat and inches and gain muscle. Full Article

Hi Hayley: I will be 65 in a couple of months. I have been running for 8 years-lost 25 lbs and kept it off until about 1 1/2 years ago. I put on 5 pounds and I cannot get it off. I lived in tank tops-now I look awful in one. I can't kick up my workout-I run, jump rope and lift weights 5 days a week-a 3 hour workout. Full Article
