Smutty Fitness: Broken Toe Fitness

Hi Hayley, I broke my toe on the long weekend and it looks like the healing process could take up to 6 weeks. I'm wondering if you have any recommendations for ways to still work out when I am supposed to be staying off my feet as much as possible. My usual weekly workout routine is a combo of doing classes at the gym (boot camp, cardio/weights, circuit training), and shorter runs (5-6km), with occasional yoga. Full Article

Hey Hayley, A couple years ago I really got into fitness in a serious way. I had a trainer come a couple days a week to my condo and am now working out five times a week (combination of HIIT, plyometrics, weight training and functional training in addition to some classes like spinning or yoga). Full Article

Hey Hayley! I have some questions for you regarding fitness during pregnancy.  I had my first babe a couple years ago after a long struggle with infertility.  When we found out we were finally expecting, the medical professionals around us suggested I stop my current fitness routine until I was at least 16 weeks, just to make sure I was being as safe as possible (there were no health concerns with me or babe, more just that we’ve waited so long, and the first 3 months can be the most common for miscarriage). Full Article

Hey Hayley, I am so confused.  I try to eat right 80 percent of the time, but in preparing my breakfast the other day, I looked at the nutritional value of all my ingredients, and I was kind of shocked.  If I make oatmeal in the morning, I sprinkle it with linseed, sunflower and almond meal and some unsweetened coconut chips. Full Article

Hi Hayley,  I'm not sure how to express this, but maybe I just need someone to tell me to change my mentality and perhaps that's all I need! Here goes: Lately I've been getting a lot more back injuries and shoulder pains from doing my CrossFit workouts. I recently joined a new gym and with that comes with the "free session with a trainer" and while the session was informative and I can see some of the benefit of having a trainer (I committed to 12 sessions), I'm not sold on the long-term commitment, which seems like it's already in the works. Full Article

Lately I have been focusing a lot on my own wellness. I have been doing yoga, I started meditating, and I am slowing down and taking some time to cook for myself (although I have a nicely packaged box of prepped food arrive weekly at my doorstep). Here’s my secret: I hate cooking and everything that goes along with it. I hate planning meals and nothing gives me more anxiety then grocery shopping. I feel like a child who has lost their mother every time I walk into a grocery store and I can never seem to get out of there fast enough. I literally look like the Tasmanian devil hustling through the isles grabbing the same things I do every trip. Full Article
