Hi Hayley, I've really done it this time! I have been training through the summer for my next full marathon in Hamilton on November 5th. I was stopped in my tracks while running home from work last week by a shooting pain in the right foot. I believe I have a stress fracture, which the x-ray I went for didn't pick up, but I am sure the bone scan will see when I go for it next week. Full Article

Hayley, I broke my shoulder yesterday! It's the upper humerus so it is in a sling for four to six weeks. I am at least 50 lbs overweight but used to be very fit about five years ago. I was getting back into fitness with yoga and I had big fresh September plans for a lifestyle overhaul. Now what??? ___ Welcome to what we call adversity. Full Article

Hi Hayley, After decades of crash dieting and little strenuous exercise (coupled with constant complaining about how "fat" she is), my mom has finally started going to the gym three days/week with a trainer. Hi Hayley, I recently had my second (and last!) baby and am eager to restart a fitness routine. Prior to having children I ran full and half marathons, cycled, swam, and the only strength training I ever stuck to is barre-style workouts. I haven't worked out consistently since the birth of my son 2 years ago but I'm so ready to get this ship back in shape, as much for the mental benefits as the physical. Full Article

Hi Hayley, I need some help with my calves! Currently I go to two step classes (Group Blast) and three weight training classes (Group Power) at my gym as well as a few 5-8k hikes with my dog a week. My calves were at their best when I was rock climbing and hiking a ton, but now with a toddler who likes to run towards danger I'm not able to get out doing these activities enough to keep the muscle on. Full Article

Hey Hayley, I have been following this blog for years and you since the beginning. I was so stoked a couple years ago when you got into mountain biking and now skate skiing, two of my faves. The question I have for you is around speed in climbing on a bike and running. I will toot my own downhill horn and say between the up and the down I am way stronger on the down. Full Article

Hi! I'm in a serious motivational funk and I'm not sure how to claw my way out of it. I used to fence as a kid and I've recently started again, and I'm terribly out of shape and my endurance is shot, and it makes me quite awkward and uncomfortable. I'm shy about asking other foil fencers to have bouts with me because it embarrasses me how slow and inaccurate I've become. Full Article

Last night I was working with a client who made a comment to me that she has hated exercise, and exercising, for most of her life and that she wished that she was one of those people who loved it, which got me thinking this morning on my hike up the mountain.
