Smutty Fitness: Small steps and weekly goals
I need some guidance here Hayley. I’m 26, 5’9, and weigh 180 lbs. I’ve gained 40 lbs since graduating college. I juggle a full time job with grad school classes at night. It’s exhausting, especially compared with my life in college. In college, there was a lot of free time, and an enormous gym that stayed open until 11pm (I’m NOT a morning person). Full Article

Smutty Fitness: Spring Cleaning, Spring Eating
It is spring cleaning and I am in the process of purging my kitchen. In the process I have learned two things – canned food does expire (I had cans that expired in 2010!) and I have a completely empty pantry. This means if I pick up a recipe book I have to go out and purchase every single ingredient the recipe calls for which makes for an expensive meal. Full Article
Smutty Fitness: Hair Ties for working out
Blackbeard/ Wylde/ Splash
I have long, thick hair and I have always battled with it when I am exercising. Besides the fact that I have to wash and style it after a workout (which takes forever) I have always fought with how to tie it back when I am running. I hate the feeling of my hair on my back, so a low pony tail is out of the question. Full Article
Smutty Fitness: Fitness Apps
I never thought I would be one to use a fitness app on my phone to track my eating but in the fall of 2012 I was introduced to MyFitnessPal and in 10 weeks I dropped 15 pounds that had been gained over the summer. Here is why I think a system like this works. The number one reason is this is not a diet. Full Article
Smutty Fitness: Belly Flab and Spring Break
Trust me when I say you are not alone in this fight to lose belly and hip fat. It is a billion dollar business and everywhere you turn someone is trying to sell you something that will solve all of your weight loss problems. Here is the truth –women are meant to have body fat, so unless you are willing to make a complete lifestyle change and cut out all sugar and grains and exercise like crazy you will always have fat on your stomach and thighs. Smutty Fitness: 30-45 minutes max
Hi Hayley, In the last 10 years I have put on 40lbs since University. I am a Type 1 Diabetic and all my doctors, nurse and dietician tell me is it's 3x as hard for me to lose the weight. Not helpful and very frustrating. I'm working on my diet but exercise is important too. I have signed up for a 10K race in May and I am running 3-4 times a week, however I would like to include some weight training to help with my weight loss, tone and benefit my running and overall health. Smutty Fitness: Your Workout Wardrobe
I would be the last person to call myself a fashionista but I do know how to dress for a workout. Let’s face it – gyms are no longer a place to wear your frumpy white t-shirts and baggy shorts anymore. They are turning into a place to be seen and look good and no matter what size you are or what your budget might be you can look hot while you are dripping with sweat. Full Article
Smutty Fitness: Consistency
FameFlynet, Splash
Consistency, in my opinion, is the most important word to consider when attempting to make a life change (such as trying to lose weight). I can not tell you how many times I have had people say to me that they have been trying to lose weight and months in they are not seeing any results. Here is the thing – if you are consistent in your attempt to make change then you will see results, no question. Full Article
Smutty Fitness: Glutes for running
It’s almost Spring -- my favourite time of year! This is when a lot of us are ramping up our running. Whether you are training for your first 5km or a marathon, this is when your running mileage will begin to increase. Up to this point in your training you probably have not noticed much in regards to knee, back and hip pain but as the distances you run increase so might your aches. Full Article
Smutty Fitness: Is my friend bulimic?
Hi Hayley, I don't know if you are the one to ask but here goes. I have this friend who is really self conscious about her weight. She is a bit bigger but not unhealthy in the least. What she has started is that whenever she feels guilty having eaten a lot she will make herself throw it up. She does this about twice a week or less. Full Article
Smutty Fitness: Fitness Magazine Promises
While I was in Mexico I actually had the time to sit down and relax and in that process I picked up one of those fitness magazines that stare at you every time you are in a grocery store line up. On the cover it said “Get your dream body in just 2 weeks” and there was a picture of a well known trainer and her perfect, toned and sculpted body. Full Article
