This past weekend I competed in a relay race in Whistler: 80km of running divided between 8 people with four 7km legs and four 13km legs. I love this day, and my girlfriend and I joke about it being like our Christmas and it is something we look forward to every year. Full Article

Hey Hayley, Over the past year and a half I have developed horrendous eating habits - mainly a consequence of taking the easy option, takeaways and also medium to high calorie lunches at work. Over the past month or so I have reduced takeaway orders and reduced the fizzy drinks again and also stopped with the mid-week-evening-junk-food-binge (crisps are my weakness). Full Article

Smutty Fitness: Feeling good enough

Why is it that we, as women, never allow ourselves to feel good enough? We are never thin enough, pretty enough, smart enough or funny enough. We criticize our abilities as mothers, friends, sisters, athletes, employees, employers and wives. We take on everything, we do not ask for help, we expect perfection and when we are not successful we immediately feel like a failure. Full Article

Thanksgiving: We enjoy all the foods, wine and festive cheer of Christmas minus the stress of the shopping and if you are like me you weasel your way into multiple dinners (which equates to multiple leftovers). However there is one main downside to this holiday which is the calories... Full Article

Hi Hayley, I've decided to change my career.  I was in an accident years ago and injured my back. Since then, I've taken up yoga and it’s the only thing that has helped tremendously with the pain.  I've decided to become a yoga instructor and enrolled in an intense 5 week course. Full Article

Hi Hayley! I'm a university student and I've recently started taking some TRX classes. I'm loving it and it kicks my butt, so I feel great after! I was just wondering about your thoughts on TRX, and what I should be doing other than TRX in terms of cardio/strength training to supplement? Thanks! - G ___ The TRX is my absolute favourite piece of equipment over anything else you can find in a gym. Full Article

Smutty Fitness: Weak Arms

Hi Hayley, Question #1 for you: when I work out my arms, they fatigue very quickly! My "lifting to failure" happens pretty easily, yet I'm very rarely sore the next day. Legs, on the other hand, I feel like I can squat and lunge all day (I do get shaky) but I get SO SORE. Like I can barely move the next day. Full Article

Hi Hayley! I'm biting the bullet and returning to school full time this fall. I'll be spending my life on campus between classes, labs, and library time. I'm determined to both save money and avoid the temptation of the vending machines. Could you give me some budget friendly suggestions for healthy meals that I can make on Sunday and have for lunch during the week? ___ Do you have a crock pot? If not, go out right now and buy yourself one as it is now your best friend. Full Article

I’m back from the trip of a lifetime – 3 weeks in Europe for my best friend’s wedding, and I’m ready to get myself and you guys, fit for the fall. Now people ask me all the time how they can stay in shape (or more importantly not get fat) while they are away on vacation. We all know going to the gym is not always an option because do we really want to waste the limited time we have inside a gym rather than seeing the sights? It can be easier to stay fit on some vacations but when you are moving from place to place and spending your days touring, eating the local cuisine and drinking the local wine more often than not, it can be tough to squeeze into your pants upon your return. Full Article

Hi Hayley! After hearing rave reviews from friends, I have started taking barre classes twice per week.  I am enjoying the challenge and the low-impact workout, but I want to make sure that I am adjusting my other workouts during the week to fit with the classes.  Should I continue doing regular cardio? If I am sore after barre, should I still try to fit in strength training in between classes? Thanks ___ Barre classes are a great addition to your already structured workout but it is important that you continue to focus on the many other aspects of health and wellness. Full Article
