Hi Hayley I tried barefoot water skiing in the summer and I wasn't quite able to get up, but I was close! I was doing it off a boom hanging from a water ski boat so training wheels style. I know I need more upper body strength and I think being able to pull up my own body weight would help but I don't know how to progress to pull ups and chin ups. Full Article

Hi Hayley, I am hoping you can help. I recently had laparoscopic surgery to remove my right ovary. All is well and good and my recovery is going as planned. However, here is the problem. I am to do no physical activity, particularly core work for 4-6 weeks. Ugh. I am 32 and a very active person who works out daily for between 30-50 minutes. Full Article

Smutty Fitness: The Seattle Marathon

Hayley Posted by Hayley at November 27, 2012 14:28:42 November 27, 2012 14:28:42

Three months ago I presented the challenge of running the Seattle full marathon to one of my clients and the Seattle half marathon to two others and on Sunday all three of these amazing women completed their journey.  Here are their stories. Anya Georgijevic – 30 something fashionista/blogger/fashion journalist I started training Anya about three years ago and when I first met her she believed it went against all fashion rules to walk her dog around the seawall in running shoes and she would not be caught dead in workout gear outside of the gym. Full Article

The holidays are fast approaching (scary!) and with American Thanksgiving this weekend we all know that sooner rather than later our kitchens will be filled with Christmas baking, our glasses filled with Christmas cheer and our schedules filled with Christmas festivities.  As much fun as the holiday season is, trying to fit back into your clothes come January is not, so do yourself a favour this holiday season and do not do what most North Americans do: over-indulge and see the scale increase by nearly 10 pounds. Full Article

Hi Hayley, I want to be able to do pushups! My goal is to be able to do 10 with proper form.  Pushing up is not easy but doable, my problem is that when I lower down I quickly break form through the middle and can either flop down belly first or push back up the couple of inches I lowered. Full Article

Hi Hayley! After losing over 80 lbs of baby weight through diet and exercise, I got back to my old love, running. This past summer I did 2 10k races, 2 Try-A-Tris and a Warrior Dash. I was starting to work on my goal of a half marathon when I injured my IT band. The sports doctor I saw diagnosed the injury and gave me a series of stretches to do but to be honest, they haven't been helpful. Full Article

Excuses. I know I have written about them before. They are everywhere, telling us to stay in bed for another 30 minutes because it is dark and cold outside, convincing us we should eat the giant chocolate chip cookie in the lunchroom because we were good all morning or that we should have the French fries with our burger and a second beer because it is Friday and we worked hard all week. Full Article

Hi Hayley! I have a shoe problem. First some background. I bought a pair of Adidas Duramo running shoes and started training for a 10km in January 2010. I fell in love with races and ran my first half marathon in the fall of that same year. After I completed it I was told by pretty much everyone that those shoes had been worn out and to get a new pair to continue running in. Full Article
