Hayley, 6 months ago I joined a Crossfit box.  I was looking for a way to get stronger and faster and I found it.  I loved it immediately.  I had never done any Olympic lifting so everything was new to me and I was seeing immediate results.  I was getting so much stronger and while I wasn't losing a lot of weight I was becoming leaner. Full Article

I was out shopping on a break yesterday and as I was dressed in my work attire (which most days consists of running pants, a tank top and a running shirt) so it was pretty easy for the girl at the store to recognize me as an athletic trainer.  When I was paying for my purchase she said to me “I have one question for you. Full Article

Hi Hayley I am obese.  I hate that word, but I can't deny it any longer.  I weigh 220lbs and I am 5'5. Fall is here bringing with it shorter days and darker mornings, less daylight to exercise outdoors and cooler temperatures to exercise in.  In the summer we have to plan our workouts to make sure that we miss the heat (or at least survive in it) but come fall and winter we need to practice different strategies. Full Article

Hi Haley, I am a 23 year old male who stands 5"11 and weighs 160-165 lbs. I don't know what or if there even is a standard weight for my age/height and what that falls into, I certainly know I'm not large by any means. I do however feel "pudgy" compared to my 20 year old self who could eat what he wanted and not feel the repercussions. Full Article

I would love to know Hayley's thoughts on the barefoot/minimalist shoe running trend. I'm currently training for my 4th half marathon, and I feel like everyone I talk to is trying to talk me into buying a pair of minimalist shoes... mind you, most of those people don't run as far or as often as I do these days. Full Article

Hello Hayley, I hope you are well. I am 21 years old and I am 5'10 in height and my weight fluctuates between 119 and 126 pounds (I weigh myself maybe twice a month). I don't really do any physical activity at all, which I know is bad even though I'm not overweight. I lose weight very easily and I find I have a hard time gaining anything. Full Article

I was humbled this weekend, reminded that no matter how hard I train or how much time I devote to something or how good I think I am there is ALWAYS room for improvement, there is ALWAYS someone better than me and there is ALWAYS something that will challenge me more. I was out on my mountain bike this weekend with some friends who decided to take me down a double black diamond trail, which I had never seen before. Full Article
