Hello Hayley, I hope you are well. I am 21 years old and I am 5'10 in height and my weight fluctuates between 119 and 126 pounds (I weigh myself maybe twice a month). I don't really do any physical activity at all, which I know is bad even though I'm not overweight. I lose weight very easily and I find I have a hard time gaining anything. Full Article

I was humbled this weekend, reminded that no matter how hard I train or how much time I devote to something or how good I think I am there is ALWAYS room for improvement, there is ALWAYS someone better than me and there is ALWAYS something that will challenge me more. I was out on my mountain bike this weekend with some friends who decided to take me down a double black diamond trail, which I had never seen before. Full Article

Hi Hayley, I've always been a “big” girl, which means I'm tall and inherited my family's Ukrainian peasant genes. But after 8 years of unhealthy University student living and the prospect of having to start shopping at plus size stores on the horizon, I decided to shape up my act. Full Article

Ever since I was a child in school September has always felt like a new start, another chance to do my best.  September has always symbolized back to routine and with summer coming to an end so does life at the cottage, family camping trips and barbeques and patios with friends.  I know you are all with me when I say that, once again, I indulged this summer. Full Article

Hi Hayley, I'm very concerned about my mother-in-law's fitness level. She has always been a larger woman, but over the last few months she has gotten incredibly lethargic and is quite obese (probably in the 250lb range). She spends her days sleeping and watching television. There have been quite a few life changes for my in-laws over the past year, including my father-in-law losing his job, and I suspect that these changes have caused some anxiety and depression, which seems to only exacerbate the issue. Full Article

When I am working towards a goal, whether it’s in the gym, in a race or in life, I always figure out exactly what needs to be done in order to achieve my goal and then I create the plan, breaking it into months, days, hours and even minutes.  That way I know every single day exactly what I have to do to get closer to the desired outcome. Full Article

Hi Hayley, I'm a professional gardener which means I spend my days outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions engaging in really physical work. Some days it's great, but most days my body takes a beating from all the lifting, hauling, digging, overhead reaching for tree trimming, etc. Full Article

During college I gained the freshman 15, the sophomore 30, and then some. The summer before my senior year I finally got my act together and lost a good amount of weight. 8 years later and I found myself weighing more (234lbs) than I ever have before. I've managed to lose 21lbs since April by limiting my daily calorie intake to 1200 calories/day (I sit for 8 hours at a desk job) and 24g of sugar/day. Full Article

Hi Hayley, After a few years as a busy single mom, I have recently started working out again, and noticed how much more I can do in the gym now that I’m a little larger, eat a little better, and have spent the time carrying around my child/their toys/groceries for two/ etc… without help. Full Article

I love the Olympics.  Whether it is the Winter or Summer Games I find myself glued to the television from start to finish.  I love the stories that unfold during the Games, the stories of athletes overcoming obstacles, athletes who make history, athletes who miss their glory by seconds and inches, the heartaches and the celebrations and as spectators we never know what is going to happen in the two weeks while we are cheering on all of our athletes who are representing our country. Full Article

Hi Hayley, My question is for my husband.  My constant nagging him to exercise hasn’t been working, but a trip to the doctor who told him, again, that he needs to lose weight has motivated him to say we can start going for bike rides together.  Yay! So that’s starting small and hopefully a bit of exercise will motivate him (and me) to do more. Full Article
