October 21, 2010 - Smutty Shout-Outs
For Shannon who is missing Laurel and it’s never time to lighten up, especially not after 5 years, which is how long it’s been since Laurel’s life was cruelly taken.
On October 19, 2005, Laurel spent the day helping impoverished expectant mothers through their pregnancies and assisted at-risk youth with their progress plans. But she died instantly on her way home when her car was hit head on by a drug runner. She left behind two children, two grandchildren, her husband, and five brothers and sisters.
An annual bursary was established in Laurel’s honour at The University of Manitoba. The Laurel Austman
Bursary helps single parents, like Laurel, who are entering the Faculty of Education. Click here for more information.
