Sponsored Smut: BC SPCA – the best gift ever
My friend Lara is in love. She and Ryan have been together a long time. But they fell in love 3 weeks ago with Lucky. This is Lucky. Lucky is half lab, half beagle. A rescue dog. Lucky is lucky to have found Lara and Ryan. And ZadieSmith is lucky to have found Duana. Duana adopted ZadieSmith a few months ago. They’re all lucky together. Especially Marcus, even though he’s an ungrateful little prick. Yesterday, having already polished off a container full of peanut butter, he decided to make a big production about his tortured existence after I told him to beat it when I found his nose inside my bowl of soup. He spent an hour sitting by the door as if to say that even the life of a runaway would be better than what’s forced upon him in our house.
If only he knew…
Never mind. I don’t want him to know.
I’m crying again, see? I only cry over animals. And so many of them are unloved. My little guy gets too much love. And I like it that way.
So this holiday season, in lieu of conventional presents, would you consider a donation instead to the BC SPCA? It’s a gift in honour of the animal lover on your list. If they’re anything like Lara, and Duana, and me too, they’ll appreciate it more than anything else.
www.PawsitiveGifts.ca, the BC SPCA’s alternative gift giving site.
By the way – thanks to all of you for sending me the video of that intrepid little beagle who escaped the cage. Could Marcus accomplish the same? Please. He’s the asshole sleeping in the back corner waiting for food and then taking off on a full stomach after someone else has done the hard work for him.
In 2007 the BC SPCA helped more than 40,000 injured, abused and homeless animals throughout the province of BC. The BC SPCA was created under the auspices of the provincial Prevention of Cruelty Act, and is the only animal welfare organization in BC which has the authority to enforce laws relating to animal cruelty. In 2007, the BC SPCA investigated more than 4,600 complaints of cruelty and neglect and seized more than 1,500 animals from harmful situations.
The BC SPCA receives very little government funding and relies almost solely on donations from the general public.
Marcus loves Christmas. Our relatives are suckers for his boo hoo face. Attached are a few photos of Marcus celebrating Christmas, as well as pictures of Lucky and ZadieSmith.
