The Heart Truth™ Campaign for healthy hearts

Help support healthy hearts! Heart disease and stroke is the leading cause of death among women in Canada yet most women don’t even know it! February is heart month, and as the founding sponsor of the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s The Heart Truth campaign, Becel is working hard to put heart health on everyone’s radar.

You can do your part to help spread the ‘The Heart Truth’. First watch for a powerful Becel-commissioned short film that will air during CTV’s Oscar broadcast on Sunday March 7! Then share it with your loved ones on the Love Your Heart community at facebook.com/loveyourheart. For every fan, Becel will donate $1 to The Heart Truth campaign– up to $25,000.

You may recall I participated in The Hearth Truth Fashion Show last year (www.thehearttruth.ca/2009_fashion_show) in support of the same cause. The theme was red and I, along with several other women in Canadian media modeled a line of red dresses. Andy-Thê-Anh was one of those designers, and now he has created a red dress for my friend and colleague Tanya Kim to wear during CTV’s Oscar pre-show. The Red Dress is the symbol of The Heart Truth campaign. It is feminine, strong and confident and represents women’s courage and passion. It was designed to help raise awareness about the importance of heart health for women in Canada. Watch for it on Oscar night during CTV’s coverage of the event.

Between now and the Oscar night Becel will use these spots to remind you to tune in and watch their short film. And to get you in the Oscar mood we’ll tie it all together by pulling some memorable Oscar reds out from the archives. Nicole Kidman was a statue in this one. Beautiful but not real. A strange, frozen alien, in contrast to her doppelganger Amy Adams in her strapless and the showpiece around her neck. And Anne Hathaway pre-shady boyfriend breakup, before he went sent to prison and she dropped 20 pounds. It was Marchesa. I didn’t like it at the time and still don’t.
