Ryan Murphy’s latest anthology series, Feud, is currently filming, which means set photos. Which means seeing Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange in costume as Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, respectively. Super into how they look and the only way this could get better is if Judy Davis showed up as Hedda Hopper. Or Stanley Tucci as Jack Warner. Or Sarah Paulson as Geraldine Page. F*ck this cast! If this show sucks it won’t be for casting. The only way it could get better is if Murphy finds some way to shoehorn in Matt Bomer as Montgomery Clift.

Speaking of Murphy, he talked to Entertainment Weekly about his appreciation of older actresses and his desire to work with them, thus Feud, which stars eight women over forty. Murphy has created shows set in high schools and colleges, he’s cast dramas and musicals and a true crime series, and yet somehow, it’s always the women who stand out, and those women are, usually, over forty. California recently passed a law forcing IMDB to remove ages and birthdays from a person’s page at their request, in hopes of battling ageism in the film industry. The problem is that information is still available on other sites like Wikipedia, and also, it doesn’t actually address the issue of people not wanting to cast actresses who look old. Ryan Murphy, however, is actively seeking out older women for his projects and it’s brought him a string of hits and trophies. Money and awards will change a lot more minds than not seeing a birthday on IMDB.
