The Iron Lady is coming to TIFF
Oh yeah, and Mark Ruffalo too. I don’t see why I have to keep writing this article. Isn’t that enough? Isn’t it???
We will continue.
The Toronto International Film Festival has just announced its 2013 lineup and, as usual, it’ll be a mega movie star year to kick off award season. From a gossip perspective, here are some of the notables:
Meryl Streep + Julia Roberts
It’s August: Osage County. It’s expected to be nominated. And, well, for those of you who hunger for Benedict Cumberbatch, since he has a part in the film, and since The Fifth Estate, his Julian Assange movie, is also on the list, chances are very, very good that he will be in town. August was produced by George Clooney. So he’ll be around to represent that project and …
Gravity with Sandra Bullock. Right after opening the Venice Film Festival, as predicted, Sandy and George will head to Toronto. Where horny broads will rush the gates in order to get to him. The question is… will he come single? He has 6 weeks to find Stacy Keibler’s successor or, you know, go public with Eva Longoria. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH
Harry Potter! Daniel Radcliffe in Kill Your Darlings. Radcliffe enjoys Toronto. He’ll likely show.
Colin Firth also enjoys Toronto. He’s been here so many times. He was here for The King’s Speech. And so he’ll probably be back for The Railway Man with oh, just an actor called Nicole Kidman.
Idris Elba is coming to TIFF! So… now you know why I’m moving here.
And Toronto is where Mia Wasikowska and Jesse Eisenberg were first photographed as a couple so it’s fitting, I guess?, that Toronto is where their film The Double will premiere.
Jason Reitman is a TIFF favourite. He usually tries to save all of his films for TIFF. And he’ll be bringing Labour Day to TIFF with Kate Winslet.
As for Ruffalo, he’ll be representing Can A Song Save Your Life with Keira Knightley. Plus he met his wife in Toronto so he always loves it. This is where you’ll see Duana turn into a fangirl. Mark Ruffalo is her everything.
This is also where Matthew McConaughey begins his Oscar run. McConaughey’s performance in The Dallas Buyers Club is said to be a strong contender for a Best Actor nomination. If Toronto loves it, it’s a very, very solid start.
And finally, a film we’ve been looking forward to for a while – Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy in the two parts of The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Him and Her isn’t ready, but will be presented as a work in progress.
I’m sure I’ve left off a few people (Taylor Kitsch, Jude Law, and more). But this list? This list is crazy strong. See you there in September?
