I haven’t watched True Blood in years (has anyone?), but the last I saw of it Jessica was one of the last good things going on that show. So it makes me happy that Deborah Ann Woll, who actually made that mess watchable, is moving on to bigger and better things as True Blood winds to a close. Full Story
I don’t want to discount the importance of Marvel choosing to reimagine Thor as a woman for a new comic book run. It’s important that kids—any kid—looks at the characters we deem heroic and see themselves reflected back, and Marvel Comics has been diligent about diversifying their superheroes over the years. Last night (former) SNL castmember Brooks Wheelan tweeted this funny and self-deprecating annoucement: Had a blast and loved every second of it. I'm totally honored to be able to make this next joke... FIRED FROM NEW YORK IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT! — Brooks Wheelan (@brookswheelan) July 14, 2014 Full Story
Katherine Heigl is promoting her new show State Of Affairs. She and her mother are both producers on the show. So at the TCAs this weekend, while the entire panel was on stage fielding questions, a critic stepped up and asked her about her reputation – that she’s difficult to work with, that she and her mother come as a package deal and have alienated many people in the business, which is why her career has been in the sh-ts for a couple of years. Taylor Kitsch was in Brazil for the World Cup. On Friday it was widely reported that he and Colin Farrell are being considered for the second season of True Detective. It’d be a great career move for both – particularly Kitsch who did well on HBO’s The Normal Heart and could use some television stabilising after a rough attempt at the movies. Full Story
Justin Theroux covers the new issue of DETAILS to promote The Leftovers. Have you been watching? It’s a slow burn for me so it’s not like I’m rushing to make it through the screeners but at the same time, I’m not putting it at the bottom of the pile either. The article is a good read. Full Story

My first thought, obviously, when I saw the nominations, was rage. The second was that this was the same exact nomination list – and nomination snubs – as last year. Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling are back together on TV. I must have been totally out of it because this is the first I’ve heard of them doing a show together and it’s premiering tonight on ABC Family. Or maybe no one cared enough to report it until now. Last night was the premiere of HBO’s The Leftovers in New York. Now you know if Jennifer Aniston hadn’t shown up to support fiancé Justin Theroux on this carpet, they would have given the tabloids a reason to announce a breakup. Not only did she show up, she came to sell. There was a lot of hands on chest and midsection. Full Story

How many times have we heard a former child star talk about how lucky he/she was to have grown up in the age before TMZ? Lots, right? Well now, thanks to the seemingly unquenchable 90s nostalgia trend, the Saved by The Bell Cast are finally going to know what it feels like to have their teenage dirty laundry aired as Lifetime produces a movie about what really went on behind the scenes.
