Lawrence on Letterman

Jennifer Lawrence appeared on Letterman last night. It was a great interview. 20 years old and she laid down an awesome interview on Letterman that earned her a kiss on the hand. Well done. She’s poised but she’s not, like, overly produced and automatic. She’s not Taylor Lautner, she’s not Dakota Fanning, she’s not from Disney, there’s personality there, and a lot of wit, and a brain – quick, funny, confident, but not cocky, incredibly sexy… and you can tell, Dave was charmed. Full Story

So this is what happened when I was in flight yesterday. Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive first look at Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen in the movie adaptation of The Hunger Games. Thank you for your emails and your reactions. And my reaction? Medium. Does that count as a reaction? I think they’re going in the right direction. Full Story

More good news for Wes Bentley

I posted an article late March about Wes Bentley – how great he looked in Spain promoting his new film There Be Dragons, and how candid he’s been about how he f-cked up his life after early success. Click here for a refresher, including his candid NY Times interview in which he details his struggle with heroin addiction, and how he lost everything and had to start over. Full Story

But before that, click here to see the District 3 Tributes. They’ve also cast Katniss’s ma. Click here for more information on that. And John C Reilly is supposedly negotiating to be Haymitch? Meh. Full Story

This is Prim

Her name is Willow Shields. THR confirms that she’s officially been cast as Prim in The Hunger Games. You like? I like that she’s pretty much a total unknown. I believe that Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss would need to protect her. I am happy, so happy, that it’s not Chloe Moretz or Abigail Breslin or whoever it was that everyone was speculating about. Full Story

Ok, so they just announced the District 1 Tributes. Marvel is being played by Jack Quaid, son of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid. Some blonde called Leven Rambin I’ve never heard of will be Glimmer. Will you be satisfied when you watch her getting tracker jacked? OMG. I think I will be. Is that mean? And at the same time…I’m TERRIFIED of watching someone getting tracker jacked. Full Story

Is this your Effie?

THR is reporting that Elizabeth Banks is in talks to play Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games. Must discuss this during the liveblog. I can see what they’re going for in the sense that Effie is the ultimate packager from the Capitol. In that spirit, Effie is totally Hollywood. Full Story

Hunger Games casting update! A release was just sent out. They’ve announced the tributes from District 11. Which means Rue! Her name is Amandla Stenberg. And Thresh, also from 11, is Dayo Okeniyi. Both newcomers. There’s now actually a Facebook page for casting confirmations. Looks like they may be going in reverse chronological order of districts. Full Story

Errr… I feel like I may have been reading a different book series. Lionsgate confirmed today that they’ve chosen the two male leads in The Hunger Games films: Josh Hutcherson will play Peeta, Liam Hemsworth Gale. Sarah from Cinesnark Full Story

Written by Sarah When I wrote about The Hunger Games casting earlier this week, I noted that no one other than Alex Pettyfer had surfaced in the race for Peeta. Strike that, because we now have a Peeta three-way. Full Story

Written by Sarah I’ve been saying for the past year that sixteen-year-old Saorise Ronan should be Katniss, and after seeing her in True Grit, I also thought that fourteen-year-old Hailee Steinfeld would also make a good Katniss. Full Story

I love word mysteries! Even though I suck at them! Emma Watson is weaving one on her Twitter. (Seriously, every sentence you can make with Twitter sounds dirty.) She hadn’t tweeted since February 22nd. Then today, out of the blue, this:A new venture is starting - what can it be? Follow my clues and you will see. Full Story

Well this is interesting. Today in Paris at Miu Miu, Jennifer Lawrence and Hailee Steinfeld, both vying for the role of Katniss in The Hunger Games, turned up for the show. I’m sorry…I know we’re fighting on this, but Hailee still isn’t my Katniss Everdeen. I’ve been trying. Full Story

In Paris today at Louis Vuitton. You know I love Emma Stone so much. And it’s great now that she’s becoming some kind of fashion girl. And the next step I suppose is for a fashion house or a cosmetics company to sign her. That’s exactly what her agents are trying to line up. Trust. I can’t say however that I love this look. Full Story
