The Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 16 recap. SPOILERS SERIOUSLY So we finally learn what the deal is with the W-zombies, and it is, in fact, a human hunting operation. The “wolves” are a couple of guys—so far as we know—who have baited and rigged traps to catch and turn people. Full Story

The Walking Dead 5.15: “People die now”

The Walking Dead Season 5, Episode 15 recap.  SPOILERS It’s the penultimate episode, so sh*t is going down. Rick is done playing by Alexandria rules. Half this episode is filler, and the other half is the “Rick vs. Alexandria” conflict coming to a head. Ever since arriving in Alexandria, we’ve wondered whose way is more relevant in the post-zombie apocalypse world, Rick or Deanna’s? Deanna has managed to create a reasonably safe and secure society where people live in cooperation, but Rick isn’t wrong in that they don’t know what they’re doing outside the walls. Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 5, Episode 14 recap. So Alexandria proves too good to be true because it’s populated almost entirely by ASSHOLES and COWARDS. These people don’t have a f*cking clue what they’re doing. Deanna isn’t stupid, but as I mentioned last week, she’s underestimated Rick & Co. Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 5, Episode 13 recap.  Last week I mentioned that it seems like Rick & Co. are becoming the villains of the show, and Dustin Rowles over at Pajiba posited that they might actually be the “wolves” hinted at throughout the season. Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 5, Episode 12 recap.  Hey remember when Rick was hot? This episode wanted to remind us that Rick is hot. We go inside Alexandria’s walls, where everyone gets to shower, and Rick shaves his mountain man beard. Alexandria—or rather, this one neighborhood that is all that’s left of Alexandria—seems too good to be true. Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 5, Episode 11 recap After last week’s filler episode, this week we’re back to stuff happening, sort of. The new guy, Aaron, claims to have a safe settlement and he’s on the road to recruit Rick & Co. to his community. Unfortunately for him, Rick is deeply paranoid at this point and their “audition” turns into “holding Aaron hostage while we debate what to do”. Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 5, Episode 10 recap. Oh for Christ’s sake, they invoked the name of the show. I groaned out loud when Rick declared, “We’re the walking dead.” What a ham-fisted handling of Rick & Co.’s shifting emotional state. Of course, this entire episode was like getting bludgeoned in the face with the feelings bat, so I guess it’s fitting that the writers chose now to stop pretending like they’ve heard the word “subtlety”. Full Story

The Walking Dead season 5 episode 9 recap SPOILERS The Walking Dead returns with an episode directed by SFX maestro Greg Nicotero that centers largely on Tyrese. Nicotero is a pretty good director, but he’s prone to some film school bullsh*t, the kind of stuff that screams, “Look at me, I know how to use a camera!” People who come to directing by way of other disciplines, like acting, usually indulge in that sort of thing. Full Story

The Walking Dead returns this Sunday, and Entertainment Weekly dedicated this week’s cover feature to the show. Usually when they do this, they have a group cover shot, or multiple cover variants for different characters on the show, but this time they’ve given the lone cover to Norman Reedus by himself. Full Story

All that matters on The Walking Dead is survival

Season five of The Walking Dead returns in a month and AMC has released a teaser for the final half of the season. I don’t think it’s actual episode footage, but the emphasis is on survival as Rick says that “all that matters is surviving—together.” So it would seem that Rick has given up on his dreams of finding a safe, permanent settlement. Full Story

The Walking Dead season 5, episode 8 recap. Spoilers It’s the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead and the showdown between Rick & Co. and Dawn and the hospital people. If you’re not okay with spoilers, here’s a short, spoiler-free review of the episode: It gets off to a slow start but then it gets good and there’s some bone-crunching action and then a sad bit at the end. Full Story
