The Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 11 recap The writers finally figured out that in order for Michonne to be compelling—and not just cool—they needed to let her talk. They tried to do the strong, silent thing for a while, and while that might work in a movie, where you only have to live with a character for a few hours, on a TV show eventually you have to give the audience something to work with. Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 10 recap We need to talk about Lizzie. At one point in this episode, I was legit worried she was going to murder Baby Judith and then cook and eat her. Judith is, indeed, alive, scooped up by Lizzie and Mika on their way out of the prison, which is a total cop out. Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 9 recap The Walking Dead returns and immediately makes a really good decision. Carl is Carl is UGH, and Rick might be brain dead, or maybe just dead-dead. And Michonne had a pretty nice life before the zombies came. This week, on These are the Days of our Dead. Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 8 recap The showdown. It happened. But That Thing DIDN’T. Legit disappointed. We’ve been cheated out of our Red Wedding! I Skype-watched this with my buddy RB, who is a fighter pilot in the Navy. I wanted his tactical assessment of the Governor’s attack on the prison. Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 7 recap Name correction from last week’s episode. The lady the Governor hooked up with is Lilly, not Melody. Chronic name blindness strikes again. Also, this week’s episode is titled “Dead Weight”. That’s not, like, foreboding at all. Full Story

The Walking Dead 4.6: “Cross my heart”

The Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 6 recap After the cliffhanger reveal of the Governor in last week’s episode, this week we get to spend the whole hour catching up on what the Governor has been up to since the collapse of Woodbury. Or, as he’s now being called, Brian Heriot. Because what better time to steal an identity than in the zombie apocalypse? The thing about the Governor is that, even if you haven’t read the comics, it was always clear that he was a bad guy. Full Story

The Walking Dead 4.5: “Not everyone gets to live”

The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 5 recap After last week’s very good episode, being stuck in the prison this episode feels a little stagnant and less interesting, but a slow start builds up to a great climax as the threats inside and outside the prison coalesce at the same moment. I’m not sure of the exact timeline of this episode, but I’m assuming it’s happening concurrently with Rick & Co. Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 4 recap. One thing I love on The Walking Dead is when they get outside wherever they’re holed up (prison, farm, Woodbury) and we get to see what the world looks like as the zombie apocalypse progresses. This episode, with Daryl, Michonne, Tyrese and Bob on the road to the vet college and Rick and Carol venturing into a neighborhood looking for food and supplies, we get to see how things are going outside the prison. Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 3. Life at the prison is falling apart. Right away we learn that Rick did not, in fact, have anything to do with Karen and the other guy’s mysterious deaths. So someone else killed them and burned the bodies, and Tyrese is on a rampage Full Story

The Walking Dead, Season 4 Episode 2 recap. Before we get into this week’s recap, we have some very important Walking Dead-adjacent news to discuss. Mainly—why did no one tell me Andrew Lincoln’s real last name is Clutterbuck?! This Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 1 recap We’re embarking a new season of The Walking Dead, the first one that is Horrible Lori-free, and we’ve also disposed of Andrea who, like this show itself, never lived up to her potential but was sucky and annoying. The show has considerable ground to make up after three seasons of literal stumbling around in the wilderness, searching for a point, but there’s reason to hope Full Story

Walking Dead and back again

The Walking Dead returns on Sunday (recaps start Monday) and to “celebrate”, Rolling Stone has Officer Rick himself, Andrew Lincoln, on the cover, as well as new interviews with the cast. I say “celebrate” with electrical sarcasm because has any recent television show squandered more potential than The Walking Dead? The pilot was incredible but over three seasons the show has devolved into a hate-watch for many people, good mostly for spawning memes of the show’s more boneheaded characters Full Story

Entertainment Weekly is featuring a season four preview of The Walking Dead this week—no doubt a tie in to the show’s appearance tomorrow at Comic-Con—and they have three special covers. One is Officer Rick, one is resident badass Daryl, and the third is Carl. CARL. Everyone hates Full Story

The Walking Dead Season 3 Episode 15 recap I love that everyone’s reaction to Andrea being captured by the Governor was, “Ugh, whatever, she deserves it.” Andrea has had about a hundred chances to get away from the Governor, either by killing him or just switching sides and rejoining Rick & Co. Full Story
