Lin-Manuel Miranda and Michael Bae Jordan were both on Good Morning America this morning. Typing out full names is a lot less fun than acronyms. They did interviews separately but when I saw the photo set of them each arriving at the studio, I started to think about how these two men are on the exact opposite spectrums of my celebrity crush radar. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

If only we could open every day with a post about Ms Tina Turner and new pictures. Last night was opening night of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical on the West End. Adrienne Warren, who was nominated for a Tony Award in 2016, is playing Tina and everyone is saying that she f-cking nails it, that this performance is an undeniable powerhouse moment.  Read Full Intro

Really, the title should read ‘Jesus Christ Superstar Edition’. I love that so many people loved what’s being called the most successful live musical ever – Matt Zoller Seitz called it ‘a minor miracle’. But as much fun as everyone had watching, can they fully enjoy Jesus Christ Superstar if they haven’t awkwardly sung I Don’t Know How To Love Him as an 11th-grade drama assignment, or sung ‘what’s the buzz, tell me what’s a-happening’ over and over on a school bus trip with a bunch of friends and thought you were the awesomest? Part of that feeling is a little grumpiness that I – and, I assume, other musical theatre lovers – bring to the rapturous affection for the show. Full Story

Chris Evans is making his Broadway debut in a revival of Kenneth Lonergan’s Lobby Hero (wearing a moustache, and a lot of people are into their feelings about this), and on the precipice of opening night, he has a big new profile in the New York Times. Full Story

Divine Oscar

Oscar Isaac on the cover of GQ Style. Well, between this and Lupita and MBJ, the universe is taking a dump on my productivity. In the spirit of sharing then, let me take a dump on your productivity.  This is a good read. Oscar isn’t…skittish… the way some of these celebrity profiles have read lately. Full Story

Page Six reported today that Jennifer Lawrence went to see 1984 on Broadway (starring Olivia Wilde and Tom Sturridge) on Monday and was sick during the performance. Apparently this show is so intense that audience members have been fainting midway through. Full Story

Jagged Little Pill, The Musical.

So I try to stay away from clichés, mostly because they’re hacky, but also because I don’t find them super useful. Usually they don’t articulate much about the situation – unless they’re super insightful, and then they do, but make me seem like a hypocrite.  All this to say that the phrase ‘trust your gut’ keeps coming to mind as I read about the plans for the Jagged Little Pill Musical Full Story

“RENT” Live on Fox

Duana Posted by Duana at May 15, 2017 18:30:31 May 15, 2017 18:30:31

Alert, Oregon Trail Generation*, this is not a drill. Fox has announced that RENT will be its next live musical (along with A Christmas Story, which I like, but… never thought of as a musical?). Take a second with that. Call back every angst-filled lyric you memorized and practiced and tearfully belted out in your room, and defiantly four-part–harmonized in the hallways at school when you were surrounded by your friends and the sniffs that ‘drama kids are so annoying’ couldn’t touch you. Full Story

We’ve debated and gone back and forth, but I think the verdict is we are going to delay the taping of our #ShowYourWork podcast until after the weekend.  Because the Met Gala is coming, and because Lainey and I are going to be in New York this weekend, and because there is too much good material coming at us and we need to delay our argument about who should win ‘Do I Need To Care About’. Full Story
