You know how, when everyone really likes a thing, someone gets jealous or sick of how well that thing is doing, and there’s a backlash? Jennifer Lawrence, Scandal, Paleo? Well, someone decided it was time for a Hamilton backlash—except they really picked the wrong battle. The open call for the upcoming Chicago/London/touring productions of the show calls for “Non-White Men and Women, ages 20s to 30s Full Story

But here’s the next best thing—Timothy Olyphant in a flannel shirt and cowboy boots, looking very Raylan Givens-ish during the opening night of Kenneth Lonergan’s new play, Hold on to Me Darling. Full Story

Lupita Nyong’o is the new face of Broadway – there’s no way around it. Her new play Eclipsed officially opened last night to raves, and it’s a remarkable achievement. Not only is it the first Broadway play with an all-woman cast, writer (Danai Gurira) and director, but Lupita is all over the show. Full Story

What’s the meaning of “new”? Is it new the moment something is confirmed? Or is it only new when it begins? Sorry. That was a tangent… It was confirmed by both US Weekly and PEOPLE Full Story

After a successful run off-Broadway at the Public Theatre, Danai Gurira’s Eclipsed began previews on Broadway at the Golden Theatre last night. It’s the first time in Broadway history that the cast, director, and writer are all women. Eclipsed is the third play that Danai has written in the last 10 years, at least the ones that have been produced. Full Story

Last night the opening number of Hamilton, “Alexander Hamilton”, was performed live from their home stage at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. If you know Hamilton, you squealed along at seeing it in ‘real life’, instead of just 15-second sound-ups in the 60 Minutes specials, and then checked to see if any new blocks of tickets had been released. Full Story

Star Wars is Sarah’s domain. This really isn’t a Star Wars post but I’m mentioning it because there’s a new Star Wars TV spot that’s just come out and Lupita is talking about “eyes” and everyone is freaking out because… Is Han Solo Rey’s father? Every time I watch the Star Wars trailer I feel like crying. Full Story

Last night was the opening night of Danai Gurira’s Eclipsed. You know Dania from The Walking Dead, as Michonne. Eclipsed takes place during the civil war in Liberia and it’s about a group of women in captivity who must learn together to co-exist and trust each other in their dangerous, tragic reality. Full Story

The last time Nicole Kidman performed in London on the West End, it was in The Blue Room. Her performance was universally acclaimed, with one critic saying watching her was “pure theatrical Viagra”. On Saturday she returns in a play called Photograph 51 to play British scientist Rosalind Franklin. Full Story
