Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were at the ELLE Women in Hollywood event last night. And that reminds me… We’re inside 3 months until the Golden Globe Awards. Tina and Amy are returning as hosts. You remember what happened when they hosted last year? Last year during their opening monologue, they took a shot at George Clooney. Full Story
Who is going to go see This Is Where I Leave You with me? It’s kind of hard to know who to take. I mean, this is not The Hunger Games where the companion had to be carefully thought through and it’s not Pitch Perfect where basically, seeing the movie with me became the prize because I was so delighted with the whole enterprise that I squealed and giggled and chortled and basically it was like those YouTube clips where laughing babies make you laugh. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler can do no wrong. They’re responsible for two of the funniest TV shows of the last decade, they’ve made the Golden Globes actually watchable, and over the years they’ve become America’s favorite big sisters. But one thing they haven’t done is deliver a really great movie. Full Story

The biggest movie star in the world is coming to The Social next week. On Tuesday. You should take the day off work. Because there may never be a more famous name on our show. Who? Miss Piggy. OBVIOUSLY. Oh My God, Piggy is coming. It’s because she’s promoting the new movie, Muppets Most Wanted. Full Story

There's a war going on between Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and George Clooney. It started at the Golden Globes. One of their best jokes was about Clooney and Gravity -- how he'd rather float off into space and die than talk to a woman his own age. The entire ballroom erupted. They loved it. And George took it well. Full Story

They say a little fear is good. That you should do one thing a day that scares you. That it’s important to feel a little of that edge-of-the-diving-board thing every day. I don’t feel like Amy and Tina had that particular fear while hosting the Golden Globes this year. I mean, they are good friends sharing a scary gig so right there, that’s less pressure. Full Story
It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
Holidays? Sure. But… award season! The Golden Globe nominations will be announced on Thursday. In other words, the Tina and Amy Show. Tina and Amy will make coming back to work in January tolerable, promise.
That’s a lot of pressure, right? Well, you don’t think they know that? After they killed it last year, of course they know that. That they decided to return, knowing the pressure, is the point. So don’t worry whether or not it’s unfair that it’s too much pressure. Don’t patronise them with worry that it’s too much pressure. They’re good.
Last year Tina and Amy took a shot at James Franco and he wasn’t even in the room. Franco was just named Best Supporting Actor for his work in Spring Breakers by the LA Film Critics Association in a tie with Jared Leto. Read Full Intro

I received the following text last night, verbatim: “Tina Fay [sic] is on PBS. I just love her dress.” She was one of the presenters helping to give the Mark Twain Prize for Humor to Carol Burnett. (This happened in October but the event aired on PBS last night.) Before we get to Tina: 1. Full Story
I mean, it’s a no-brainer. Isn’t it? Tina and Amy have done the impossible – they’ve secured hosting spots for the Golden Globes for the next two years in a row. They were awesome, everyone agreed. They were awesome because they A) Didn’t pull any punches – they left everything on the floor; and B) Were equal opportunity offenders – Taylor Swift jokes weren’t the only ones that landed (they’re just the ones that everyone remembers some 10 months later); and finally, and most importantly… C) They didn’t f*cking care if you liked it. Was it a happy ending? However you’d classify it, it certainly wasn’t a weak ending. Expectation can kill a series finale and holy sh-t, Breaking Bad was facing some Expectations. What I have always loved most about Breaking Bad however is that it never succumbed to the need to “explain” evil in a way that provides comfort for those who need to believe there’s a root cause for everything. Evil is its own root cause and no religion will ever make that better. Sometimes being bad just feels good – how’s that for a reason?
We have a lot of TV to talk about. There’s what happened to Walter White and Jesse Pinkman. And Homeland. And… Masters Of Sex! Also a fresh blind. And Paris Fashion Week in LifeStyle and Tina Fey opens a new season of Saturday Night Live, partly as Farrah Fawcett. Big week ahead. It’s premiere week. Have you caught up on Scandal yet?!?
Yours in gossip,
Saturday Night Live kicked off a new season on Saturday with host Tina Fey and several new cast members. One woman…and all white. So after 39 seasons, you know, take comfort in the fact that not much has changed. Well, at least it didn’t suck. How could it suck with Tina around? And Jesse Pinkman? Everyone’s favourite sketch was Girls and Blerta (Kate McKinnon was so good in that). Full Story

Okay, let’s get the sartorial stuff out of the way first. Tina’s dress fit her impeccably. But it was, yes, kind of a boring blue. But her hair was a whole new colour! And she looked more comfortable than she often does on these carpets. Amy Poehler looks like she’s drinking the blood of virgins. Full Story
I have nervous anticipation. Connie Britton was recently cast in This Is Where I Leave You, a movie based on a delicious book that you should read this weekend, about a family that sits shiva after the father passes away. (Lainey: I've written about Jonathan Tropper, the author, before. Full Story
