The GMD vs James McAvoy

Guillermo del Toro is making a movie called At the Mountains of Madness next year. He wants Tom Cruise in the lead. The studio however, not surprisingly, has a different preference: James McAvoy. I’m with the studio. You?

Maybe the studio is spooked by the GMD’s recent box office mediocrity. Then again, Day & Knight isn’t exactly del Toro quality filmmaking. Tom could certainly thrive under his vision. Del Toro also directed KatE Holmes in the upcoming Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. He’s evidently been charmed by the Chills.

Here are the GMD and Robo with Little Sci wearing their sunglasses at night in New York yesterday after arriving from Toronto and grabbing a child friendly meal at Serendipity III. Katie is in town presumably in advance of the release of her new movie The Romantics on Friday before continuing work on The Kennedys.

Tom meanwhile still has a couple of months to go before beginning production on – ugh – Mission Impossible 4, now confirmed to go ahead with Paula Patton as his leading lady, along with Jeremy Renner, expected to shoot in Vancouver, Prague, and Dubai. More time to stalk Zac Efron on his motorcycle. I just pictured him inviting Jeremy Renner on one of his rides and laughed out loud.

Also attached – the Cruise family with all the children leaving their apartment this morning.
